I have noticed an upward trend in buyers pleading to end auctions early at "thier" price. I hate doing so because I always walk away thinking I did the wrong thing. I truly enjoy watching my auctions and seeing them hit thier peak in a natural way. I do however, feel kinda bad telling someone NO when they have the current high bid. Any thoughts??

Why should you feel bad about doing the right thing? If they asked you to murder someone would you feel bad about saying "No"? Okay, true, it depends upon the person to be murdered, but still!

Ending the auction early at their price will only cheat you out of additional profits if another bidder would have bid more. The last day of an auction---especially the last few minutes---are when the snipers come out to play. You want to be fair to all bidders. Your duty is to your business, your bottom line, and anyone who depends upon your income.

The person making the request should feel bad, not you.

Of course, if no one else bids, then they get the item at their price when the auction is scheduled to end. No harm, no foul.

Personally, I wouldn't even answer such an e-mail request. Or, if I did, it would be a simple "No, thanks."

Why do you end your auctions early????? The bidder wants you to end the auction early because they are afriad someone else is willing to pay more than them. By your ending the auction, you are afraid of the same thing, someone may be willing to pay more for your items.

And I should add the buyer wants you to end it early because THEY KNOW it is worth more than they want to pay.

Inform the bidder that ending an auction early and selling the item to the high bidder is against eBay policy and you could lose your privileges. eBay frowns on this practice and I don't blame them -- they don't get a commission on the sale. I don't know how they would know if you did this, but if they find out that can suspend your account. They only allow ending an auction early if the item is no longer available for sale or if it is damaged or broken.

I get lots of requests, but never end the auction early. I'm always thrilled when I get one of those offers, because it means I have a winner on my hands! Every single time I've received a plea to end the auction early, that auction has gone on to exceed both my wildest expectations--and that bidder's offer.

I usually thank them for making the offer and say my policy is to not end listings before the end of the auction. I've had one or two persist beyond that point, but I don't acknowledge their additional requests.

I actually like to hear this because I know my item will do well. I had a table that was $675 which had met the reserve the high bidder begged me to end the auction early. By not ending the auction early, I make $200 more dollars. The table went for $875.00. When someone else asks you, please remember what I said! Unless you don't like extra $$$!
