I got hit with a chargeback for a transaction that closed in early April. The buyer had never contacted me regarding any problems with his order. I had even sent him a partial refund THROUGH BILLPOINT to compensate for a one week delay in shipping his item due to a computer glitch.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the delivery confirm receipt for this shipment, since it was sent 6 months ago! (I've got my records computerized now, but I didn't back then.) So, I got hit with the chargeback and Billpoint's $10 chargeback fee.

I'm annoyed that I got hit with a chargeback 6 months after I shipped the item. I thought people only had 2 months to dispute charges with their credit card companies?

But what really makes me angry is that Billpoint charged back the full amount of the transaction. So, not only am I out the chargeback amount and the $10 billpoint fee, but also the refund I already sent this person. Since I sent it through Billpoint, they can definitely see that the refund was made. I've emailed their "Customer Care" dept. several times about this, but have gotten nothing after 2 weeks.

Between this and PayPal headaches, I'm about ready to go back to just accepting money orders!

Its a big risk taking cc online, but its not billpoints fault. The blame lies with your crooked buyer, no one else.

You think six months is bad? I have read on these boards about people getting hit one year after the sale, but they did get nice feedback.

Even with the risk I still find its worth my while to take cc online. You will have to find your own comfort zone.

Hang in there, there is more good than bad out there.

griff228: Wouldn't matter even if you did find your Delivery Confirmation receipt. Unless you have the buyer's signature on a document stating s/he received the item OR the signature on a sales slip or other charge document, you're scrod.

BTDT, swore off Billpoint for life. And I'm so much happier.

Thanks for the advice and the phone number. Hopefully talking to a real person will help.
