Hello, just wondering if anyone knows the official name of a vintage desktop note holder. It is a long metal piece sharp at the top and it sits on a ornate base and you impale pieces of paper onto it. I can't think of what this thing is called. Any help would be great.

ksedar,

The correct term is a "spindle". We use one at the store I work at... and couldn't think of the name for it either. Then one day a customer came in and told us what it was. If you look it up in a dictionary (or at dictionary.com) you'll see that it is indeed the correct term. Hope that helps!

All I can think of is a scene from "The Pawnbroker". Forgotten the movie and the star, but that scene "stuck" with me.
