Has anyone around here noticed that out of all the auction sites, the turnaround for an item on Ebay is the slowest. I buy quite a bit of stuff, and usually pay with Paypal right away, but sometimes have to wait 3 or 4 weeks to get my item. Is this acceptable??? I am a seller on Yahoo and Ebay and take pride in same day mail back, but some sellers just do not seem to care. I just dont get it. It seems that if their rating is high, you can bet on waiting a while for your product.
Before people defend themselves, let me say that I know this is not the case for everyone. I have great experiences on Ebay all the time, but more often than not, there is just too long of a wait. I may just be picky because I give fast turnaround, but I dont know. It just doesnt seem right.

Some people sell as much in 1 day as others do in 1 month. Not all sellers can have the item sitting by the computer all packed and waiting to ship at the time that they list it.
Still beats mail-order & TV ads:
"Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery"
I think it depends on the volume a seller does. We buy a lot on eBay. If an order seems to be taking too long I'll check out the seller. If they sell a lot of stuff, I just assume they are working hard and I will get it soon. If they sell little to none, then I to wonder.
It's like any other business.
You don't have to wait in line for the crappy movies. You don't have to wait for a seat at the "less popular" restraunts.
More times than not I'm sure you will find that waiting for an item has more to do with the volume a seller does (and the mail) than the quality of their service.
Sometimes I wish I could just watch some of the "quick turn-around" sellers if they had to fill 50-100 items a day.

last week I personally, as in no help, processed and packaged 433 net sales, all went in 24 hours or less from the time we received payment. I should also mention that I was tending our 14 month old, my wife was in the hospital 1 hour away and my mother was in a different hospital 1-1/2 hours in the other direction, travel time between hospitals was 3-4 hours with baby stops and traffic.
If your going to be in this business you have to get the work done even if your processing and packaging at 2 in the morning, also to all those people that say volume sellers have a slow turn around you've never bought from me...............
eBay fees are like being slowly pecked to death by chickens!!!

OK, I'M GUILTY! I SURRENDER! I have a "day job" though, with a lot of overtime. But my TOS clearly states, "I try to ship my items once or twice a week, depending on how much overtime I have to put in on my full time job. Overseas packages and those requiring insurance or delivery confirmation may take longer. PLEASE STATE IF YOU NEED A RUSH SHIPMENT." So far very few gripes.

I once bought from a seller who said in their TOS to allow a month for delivery after receipt of payment, and by golly they meant it. I respected them for stating up front that they basically can't keep up with orders, because I had the choice to go for it or pass.
As more and more people use Amazon and half.com, though, the expectations will change. They won't be saying "gee, that was fast compared to ordering from a catalog!" It will be "Amazon takes 2 days, and I don't have YOUR item in a week, so here's a neg for you". You see this in the AMazon FB system all the time. If ebay goes to a generic, no-contact between buyer and seller, system, watch the negatives pile up.
