I have 2 questions well 2 for now. Do I have to take billpoint if I open an Ebay stores. I was able to find the answer on Ebay.
Also when listing in the store as I was trying to do this morning do I have to list it also as an auction? I just want to place some things in the store without putting it in the auctions can that be done there form keeps telling me I have to pick and auction catagory. I do have a catagory picked in the store front.
I thought I would check it out but it isn't looking like something that is a that worth while are user friendly? People that have stores at Ebay has it been worth it?

TracyG...I believe you do have to accept billpoint but am not positive. Since I already accepted billpoint I didn't pay close attention to whether it was mandatory for the stores or not...but I think so.
You are not starting an auction when you pick an auction category...the store front listing also uses the auction categories on the listing and for the search. Your categories are for your store only.
As for the effectiveness...the jury is still out for me. I have moved items through the storefront but not as well as I would have hoped. I sell used china, glass, collectibles and books and maybe the storefront is not good for that...or maybe I haven't figured out how to make it work for me.

amy,
I've done okay (not great, but okay) by sometimes offering complimenting items in the store. I also have a separate clickable link in my auction to my store (made sure it was ok w/ebay before I included).
I include a blurb, something to the effect of, "For more items like this, check out my ebay store". It does seem to have driven some traffic over there.
It seems the more you can "educate" the buyers/lookers on what the store includes, the better your chances are of getting them to wander over there.

Eventer...do you sell new merchandise? The idea of complimentary items sounds good but I sell such an eclectic mish-mash of stuff that there is rarely anything that is complimentary with my current auction offerings. I do have a blurb in my auctions about checking out my store and the store items are included in my auctiva gallery.
I sell my books under a seperate ID and soon will be putting links into the auctions so the buyer can check out other books on the same subject in the storefront. But right now I am working with my daughter (who lives about 80 miles away) to make her a partner in the book side of the business.
For a month now we have been working on the logistics of her listing to the account from her home computer and the question of how to handle multiple purchases from a buyer who buys a book she has in her possesion and a book I have at my home, how we work the emails, feedback given etc is top priority before we work on links to the storefront. But she agrees the link to specific categories of books would help move them.
I haven't given up on the stores yet because I think it can work
