I recently purchased 3 old decanter sets, and have no idea what they are or how to describe them, I am going to try puttin on a picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Amber, can you show us the lower part of the stopper, or describe it to us? Is it ground glass, cork covered, plastic covered?
Why do you believe this set is old (and what do you consider old?)?

I will try and describe the decanter as I can't seem to get the picture up. The bottom 1/3 is cranberry colored, as is the stopper, which is all glass, very heavy, no plastic. Above the cranberry is a gold band, and above that a large gold leaf, one on each side, then another gold band, and the neck is all gold. There are 6 glasses, with the cranberry at the bottom, and gold bands above it, and at the top. It was sold by the son of an old lady, who thought she had has it since she was married, which would make it at least 50 years old, but I have no verification of that. I know the description is not as good as a picture, but I just can't seem to do it, I'm an older, self-taught computer lady, and some of these things have me stumped!!

Thank you SO much kiara, I would love to know how you did that, I have 2 more I want to put on for advice. I must say, that the people on this board are such a help, I check in every day, and I have had so much good advice.

One is that sellers almost never state whether the stopper is ground glass, plastic or cork. He only collects ones with glass stoppers so he is always having to e-mail the seller for that information. A picture of the stopper alone is also very helpful. His second pet peeve is to have to e-mail the seller to find out shipping and handling. He doesn't mind paying a reasonable handling charge but would rather the seller make a decent estimate to how much it would cost to ship so he doesn't have to e-mail them.
Here's hoping you make a lot of money on them and that my husband never finds them in the search.

Thanks for the comments dixiebee, I will certainly describe the stopper in the listing, which is all glass. It is hard for me to put shipping costs as I am Canadian, and the shipping varies so much, my items go all over the world, and vary according to which State in the US they go to. My problem is, I have no idea how much to start my auctions for these decanters at, I have done a search for similar items on eBay, but none are like them, I guess I will just keep looking until I find one.
