I won an auction and paid $24.69 through Paypal. I meant to pay by credit card, but I forgot to change the funding option and paid by bank account. The problem is, I didn't have the whole $24.69 in my bank account to pay with.
I e-mailed the seller about this, and he sent the money back to me through Paypal. I withdrew the $24.69 he sent me (It was the only way I could send the money by credit card) and resent it by credit card.
My question is, since I didn't have the $24.69 in my bank account, and he sent $24.69 back to me, did he send me some of his own money? I will have NO PROBLEM sending it back if that is the case.

Actually Not sure just what you did but if you sent an Echeck or cash from your bank with NSF through paypal if would have failed the buyer would never have gotten any money.

I BELIEVE, and don't quote me , that if you don't have enough in your bank, they draw the balance from your credit card.

I am pretty sure Kidsfeet would be correct. What ever isn't covered by your exsiting funds is automatically taken from your card. so the only thing you have done is traded back the money. It will cost the seller a few extra cents for the fees of accepting it twice but other than that it should all be fine.

Now to answer your question did he send me some of his own money?
If the person has a personal account then no, he did not loose money on this. If they have a business account then yes they did regardless of the method sent, eCheck, Direct ACH, Credit card. The amount lost would be determined by the type of business account, regulat or merchant.

Yes, I know I sounded like a smart a$$ on that but I been reading to many posts of another user.
