A couple of weeks ago a buddy of mine placed a bid on one of my items. At first I didnt think much of it even though he is strictly a seller like myself. Yesterday I had an item ending and it appeared it was going to end at the price I started it at, $5. The previously mentioned friend emailed me and asked if I would like him to "bid it up" as to not let it go cheep. I responded to his email saying I did not think it was really necessary. I have been selling for 14 months, have over 500 pos feedbacks, no negs, and lots of hot auctions. Now I realize he was doing this to get the favor returned, his auctions are a bit stale. I consider this practice nothing short of TABOO and would never get involved in it. Wouldnt that take the fun out??

Not to mention the fact that its called Shill Biddding and can get you and your buddy kicked off ebay rather quickly.

Totally inappropriate but happens all the time. That is why one should always snipe. May it more difficult for the shill to know what to bid. Unless the seller is willing to buy back the item, the shill does not want to end up with the item and lose the sale.
A. If your friend sincerely intends to purchase your item, then her bids are certainly allowed. Bidding on your item for the sole purpose of inflating the final bid amount is forbidden.

doninpa: I smell a troll. Selling that long, with "hot" items and over 500 feedbacks---this person HAS to know better. Jeez.
