RB,

Unfortunately the post violated almost every CG there is, giving the seller's ID & name.
Knew it was going fast.

To that poster:

I sure wouldn't be sending a wire transfer to Latvia for a seller who was supposed to be in Sweden.

A number of immediate concerns arose about them:

While their feedback is nice, it appears to be mainly from buying. Doesn't appear they have much experience there yet. Secondly, their selling feedback is mainly to new, low feedback people. Again, I'd be a bit cautious especially if you called & the phone number didn't match up w/the name in the AboutMe page.

I'd advise looking at other sellers who have a more established history since this one seems to have some questions about it.

I was going to suggest the buyer look at an escrow service. Failing that, s/he should go with first instinct and find a camera a little closer to home.

At least I *was* going to say that before the thread was zapped

The seller offers Escrow service in his other listings but removed it for this particular auction. Strange! eBay may let the buyer back out of the transaction since the seller wants payment shipped to a country other than what was mentioned in the Auction listing (wants it shipped to Latvia instead of Sweden).

Another thing I noticed is the sellers feedback page. He stopped selling back in 1998 and then all of a sudden starts up again in October 2001. Again STRANGE! Wonder if the feedbacks he's received are legit. The new feedbacks are from low feedback buyers, all 10 or less feedback.

I wouldn't go through with the transaction unless I could use an Escrow service.

The seller may have "acquired" the eBay ID somehow as well in order to apper legit. Can you purchase eBay IDs, or maybe from a business that went defunct?

I thought ebay recently disallowed the "selling" of ebay IDs. Of course, that doesn't mean someone hasn't found a way.

It's no wonder eBay can't deal with the bootlegs and misrepresented items on their venue with all the other nonsense going on - they'd have to double their staff (to two) in order to be able to deal with every issue like this

Could someone email the person who posted that and give them these suggestions? I didn't save the persons name even though i did look at the auction in question and I agree with everyone else. I'd almost take a negative for backing out under those circumstances.
