Is a $5.00 postage option.
When I first signed up, I logically assumed that I'd be paying as I go. But you have to buy in $10, $25 and higher increments -- which stinks if you need to ship out only one item -- or are just a $1 or $2 short between your balance and the amount you need.
Ideally, they would add $1.00 or $2.00 options, but at a bare MINIMUM, they need to offer a $5.00 postage purchase. This would cover a single package in most cases.

In my opinion, the one thing Endicia needs is a FASTER refund system. I am still waiting on August refunds and September and of course October. October 3rd I has told 3 more weeks for August refunds. That is way way too long.
Is it just me? Or do the rest of you have a refund problem with them?

If you're shipping that little, why pay $9.95 per month. Just keep some stamps on hand.
It worked for me for a lot of years...
Now if you want to know what ENDICIA really needs:
A partnership with U-Pic or other online package insurer to seamlessly integrate insurance into the Endicia software. Behind the scenes where we would just have to check off a box and it would be insured and the fee deducted from an account. No logs to keep, no extra info to enter at the u-pic site. That would be awesome!
We'd NEVER, Ever have to go to the post office then.
I can see your point but I can see their's too...the credit card company charges them each time you buy postage from them. Most likely 10 to 35 cents to process the transaction plus a percentage of 1.5 to 3.5 percent.
We pay $9.99 a month for their service but if you purchased a very small amount of postage every time you mailed out a package they could easily end up running in the red for offering you a great service.

My thoughts exactly Dee. And if you want the free delivery confirmation for Priority packages, you can go to the USPS and have them print you out a free shipping label. The USPS site is slow but that is not important if you only process one or two packages. And if you're out of labels, you can always clear tape the printout to your packages.

THis is not related to how many packages you ship. If you ship 25 per month, you pretty much cover the $9.95 cost in the free DC.
What matters is the increment in which you buy postage. If I have $30 in my account, but need $31 for my day's packages, I have to buy $10 postage minimum. Some of us ARE shipping enough to make endicia worthwhile, but are not super high-volume shippers, either.
I appreciate your answers, but this really isn't about volume, but customer service. Also, they indicated that the money goes straight to the USPS and NOT through their own banks. As such, the credit card fee is USPS obligation and probably quite negligible in this case.

The current$10 minimum purchase is set by the USPS. Your money goes DIRECTLY into the USPS bank account via a credit card processing arrangement they have set up with FDMS. Like many other retail establishments, USPS set a miniumum transaction amount -- in this case $10.
Credit card processors change a fixed transation fee (e.g. 25 cents) plus a percentage of the transaction amount. When you get to smaller and smaller transactions, the fixed fee starts to eat away at the net.

THanks Harry for the explanation. As usual Endicia shoots straight from the hip (if that is still an allowable expression).
