HI all -

I"ve been using the flag posted here on my auctions, but now it appears to be no more:

http://www.gratefuldad.com/ebay/aboutme/us-flag.gif

Did someone here put this on their web site? Any plans to bring it back?

keziak,

Did you borrow it from gratefuldad(with permission) and upload it to your own webspace?

If not, then gratefuldad removed it from his server because you were stealing his bandwidth.

NEVER use images without permission or loading it to your own webspace.

It was posted here so I thought an AW member had designed it to share, but maybe the person who posted it found it somewhere?

Even though it was posted here, you should never directly link to someone's picture.

You should copy it, and host it on your OWN server space.

Otherwise, it would cost the other person money.

Even if gratefuldad found it elsewhere, it was residing on his server, which he pays for.

Hi keziak! Yep, I used the same one too and just found out that it IS gone! Anyway, I remember very well there being a thread on here in mid-September - and that is where I got the address. The way it reads - twinsoft IS grateful and he gave us permission to use it, which it appears I did along with others. This is where it can be viewed:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&id=419690&thread=419453

(sorry, I don't know how to do the clickable link - if someone would do that for me, I would greatly appreciate it).

So, were all of us that used it with "permission" wrong in doing so or was he wrong for giving us "permission"...

Would like comments on this one - perhaps someone could invite grateful dad here to discuss what happened...

Permission to use the picture meant permission to save it to your own hard drive. When a person has pictures they allow others to use, they don't want others to link to their web space. Many times there are charges for how many "hits" a person's site has.

If you want to save a picture that someone has given freely, you right click the picture, and do a Save As, and save the file to your hard drive. Then you host it on your web space to use it on auctions etc.

Thanks Meya and everyone else! Didn't realize... - I just assumed since he said to copy and paste it underneath our auction description, that was all that we needed to do with nothing to worry about...will try to do this using "my own" flag gif...

Keziak,

Look into your cache on your hard drive to find your flag.

If you like you can email it to me and i'll host it for you free of charge.

I have gigs and gigs of untouched, never used bandwidth you can borrow.
