Is there a single positive thing (besides traffic) about ebay compared to yahoo?! I can't seem to find any! Terrible customer service (same with half.com... weeks before you get an email back!), ridiculous charges (just to add a picture, list for 10 days instead of 7, and of course the famous fvf!). None of that at Yahoo which actually facilitates the management of the auctions and provides a free electronic payment service and free detailed counters! Finally, in the few months I've experienced ebay, the number of times of the Ebay site being down or not letting you sign in, revise, relist or even list kindda makes you think what ebay is doing with all the money is making outta our pockets!!!

Yahoo couldn't compete when it was free. Now that it is charging sellers, they have left in droves. I agree that it has some nice features, but look at the numbers...they just aren't there.

Yahoo then just needs to draw more traffic to its auctions site since it has everything else. Ebay with all its ureliability and careless customer service won't last, I think!

Traffic is very important, but what you need are bidders. I've had stuff on Yahoo in its prime and there were far fewer bidders. The ratio of bidders to traffic is higher on eBay and that is mainly due to the likelihood that you can find something you might be looking for.
eBay will be around for awhile. Yahoo is almost a joke in terms of auction selection right now. If they were doing FVFs instead of listing fees, things would be very different.
