I've had more than usual lately. I've left 3 or 4 recent negs for NPBs and will be leaving at least two more in the coming days. Also, I have a few slow payers that may turn into NPBs. Not a ton of money involved, but one guy did stiff me on an over $70 auction. Other auctions range from $15 to $37.

One clown bid on an auction 8 times, so he must have wanted it, but we never heard from him. Another finally contacted us after we sent a 2nd notice, and lied, saying payment was already sent. Gee, after 3 weeks you'd think he'd be wondering what happened to his $80, or if his item was shipped, or even why he got an NPB alert from ebay?

I do get some satisfaction when I leave a neg for people like this. It's the only recourse I have and I use it.

Some sellers claim even one retaliatory neg will ruin your reputation and you won't be able to get as many bids.

I say baloney.

I've left 34 negs and only received two back in retailation. I have learned (from many of you on this board) to keep it simple and factual--not to call them a stupid jerk, deadbeat, moron and so forth. Anymore, about all I say is "Never paid for auction" or something like that. I haven't had a retailatory neg in well over a year and have left a bunch in that time.

If you're one of those sellers with 1000, 1500 feedbacks with no negs, you're either the best seller in the world, the luckiest, or you're walking on eggshells.

I am getting about 3 a week (and I dont have many more bids than that, I assure you) but I file for my fee's and I do leave negatives over it.

I did have a situation that resulted in a negative for me last week though...which could have been resolved had the buyer responded to the Payment reminder OR the NPB I had sent. I had a mystery payment arrive, no information with the payment, just the payment and I was not able to track down the buyer through my stack of NPB's or other items waiting to be paid. I set the envelope aside, deposited the payment. I assumed (I know, I know don't assume!) that this buyer would email me with a "where is my item" in which I would be able to determine what the payment was for. Nothing. I filed for my FVF's on the items I had sent the NPB's for, left feedback and moved on. I still had no idea that the item was paid for when I filed for the fee because there was NO information sent with the payment. I learned the hard way when I got a retalitory negative saying that they did pay, I cashed their payment and didn't send their item. Found out who's item it was and I sent it out immediately after I emailed them and got their mailing information.

Why no response initially to the email's from eBay I have no idea. If someone sent me a NPB and I paid I'd surely be emailing them asking them why I was getting this email.

Of course when I pay someone for an auction I won I include my mailing information because I'd actually LIKE to get my item

But lesson learned on that one.

I'll still file my NPB's and leave negatives, but if I have ANY mystery payments I'll hold off until I know where it's from.
