Checkout is beginning to appear randomly in both open and closed auctions this evening and is showing up with no shipping or other information filled in or showing $0.00 for shipping. Check your auctions if you posted tonight or had an auction close tonight.

Just what I need. Stuff at the bottom of my auction listing page that I have no intention of using.
I'm sure this has been discussed in other threads, but I missed them if it was.
Anyway we can opt out of this new feature? Or is it something that we are going to have to learn to live with?
Edited to correct typos. Think I got most of them!

I just checked a bunch of mine and I don't see anything different, someone post a auction number if you can, I know you'll have to edit it but I would like to see what we are up against
Thanks

This is unfolding to be E-bays biggest disaster yet, I haven't heard one positive thing at all. I really would like to see some type of ant-trust or restriction of trade claim filed against these folks.

Not only is it showing up randomly, but it is being activated on BIN and store items even though we did not sign up for it in any way.
We have received 4 "checkout" orders today from BIN and store items!! Each of which were listed BEFORE checkout was launched.
They claim the bidder is "requesting" that we take BP.
Not only that. It looks like an order through CO is not "really" and order. It's only a request for shipping info to be filled out through a form (they give you a link to) that then gets sent to the bidder. BIN & STORE ORDERS ARE NOW NOT BINDING!
Here's how the the email looks:
_________________________________________
Subject:
eBay Request total for Item#000000 (title)
Here's the body:
Dear (seller),
The buyer, (id), would like to know the total amount for the item
below. To help you calculate the total, the shipping address is included
below. Please note that (bidder) has not purchased the item yet and your
inventory has not been reduced.
To enter the total and send an invoice to the buyer, click here:
LINK TO BP CHECKOUT
The Buyer has asked that you accept eBay Payments for this item.
.......
________________________________________
Then it goes on to describe the item, give you the bidders name and address, etc.

Huh??? You said this was for a BIN or store item, right? Was the item closed as normal when this bidder bought it at the BIN price? How can they say the item isn't purchased yet? I can't say I like this wording at all... They make it sound like this whole process is just to get a shipping quote or something... This is crazy. Instead of just e-mailing the seller to get a shipping quote if they need to they want bidders to "BIN" and CHECKOUT, then decide after they get a final price on shipping if they really want to buy or not?? What if we do fill out the shipping on checkout when we list an item, is it still going to be worded like this??
This is worse than I thought it was going to be... I would really like to see what the buyers are getting in their e-mails, etc... and what THAT wording is like...

I believe it's "opt out," rather than "opt in" - per eBay's usual way of cramming their great ideas down our throats. Or for the cheerleaders: eBay's ideas are always so neato keeno, they want to make sure none of us misses out on this great new feature!
However, with auctions that started before it was launched on Monday, I don't know what each auction page will look like at auction's end.

As I understand it so far from reading boards at Ebay, this is in the auctions permanently, you can't opt out of it. I'm outraged, but trying to stay calm since I have not read a single post from anyone that likes the feature. Maybe Ebay will change their minds, but they will need to hear from ALL of us, please email them.
Another unpleasant glitch: I do not take Billpoint and never have, yet the Ebay Payments logo is appearing in the bottom of some of my ads. Already had one buyer back out because he thought I took billpoint when he saw the logo. This happening to anyone else?
Also, IS there another thread here about this Checkout business? Seems like the boards would be on fire here about this mess! I need some help with ideas on how to work around it. At the Ebay boards, there are dozens of posts of Powersellers leaving and going to yahoo over this. Ebay is cramming this down our throats.

There are at least 2 more threads...I just put them up for you. I don't understand the lack of interest either.

I fear we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg! I think the real fallout will happen when auctions that were listed this week start to close and show the Checkout at the top of the closed auction. So far I've been able to fly in under the radar and post auctions with NO reference to Checkout (so far!)

My favorite comment from that thread...
To make it mandatory for the buyer to fill it out, check out would need to be linked so that if it isn't filled out within three days, eBay automatically sends a reminder, then if it isn't filled out for another three days, eBay automatically files NPB and puts a black mark on bidder's record and then gives them the boot after three black marks. If you're going to something to benefit us, then do it right.

Well, I don't usually use the selling form directly, I use AuctionTamer. But when I click to sell my item on eBay directly, I don't even see any Checkout section! So if it's appearing randomly on people's auctions or store items, of course it will be blank since it's not even on the form yet.
Doesn't make sense to have it appear at all if people can't even access it to put in any information.

I just launched a couple of auctions and it has the checkout at the bottom.
I'm going to add to my TOS that I DO NOT ACCEPT Billpoint. I dont want people to automatically assume that I do if they see the Checkout thing there. I will work around it the best that I can (what choice do I have??) but it ticks me off that we even HAVE to work around it.
