Just brought up my seller's list and now there's a large banner at the top saying to "click here to donate $5 to the WTC relief fund" and it brings you to this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=1642567925
I'm not getting it on other pages - just my seller's list. Has anyone else seen this?
Looks like Meg is getting pretty desperate to make that $100 Mil.

Hey, ExecGirl
Are you going to stay here after the CC file thing? Or you moving? Where? if you don't mind me asking. I'll miss your stories and you keep me informed.
Back to the topic....
Yes, I see it - it's on my page too.
Gotta get closer to that 100 million some how!

Hi RichieRich!
I had put my CC on file about a month or so ago when I tried to use AuctionManager (listed 2 auctions and said forget it!), but I left my CC on file. So it looks like I'll stay for the time being.

I think everyone should stop sending funds to these charities until these so called special funds for victims become accountable for the money they have taken in. And answer to someone as to why funds are not getting to the people this money was intended and why they are being allowed to redirect funds that have been collected.
For instance the Associated Press reported today that The American Red Cross acknowledged Monday that some of the $550 million dollars donated to a special fund established for the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks will be used for other broad-bases needs of the Red Cross. Whatever that means.
According t the report $50 million dollars will be spent on a blood readiness and reserve program. $26 million will be spent on nationwide community outreach programs and $29 million will be spent on the Red Cross’s infrastructure, including telecommunications, information systems, database management, contribution processing and other “over head” costs. And this is just the funds from the Red Cross. What about all the other 100 + charities collecting money like the September 11th Fund, The New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, The Twin Towers Fund and the United Way.
For example the latest available figures as of October 19th show that $356 million dollars has actually been collected for the Liberty Fund so far and 121.3 million has been spent with almost none of the money going to victim’s families.
Where is the money going? These charities are still asking for your donations, but why? To fill their coffers. I thought these funds would go to people who had immediate needs due to losing someone in this terrible tragedy. It doesn’t look as though that is happening so no more donations are coming from me. Not for Auction for America or any other charity associated with 9-11

Hi EG!
To be honest, I didn't even see it until you pointed it out. I think my eyes glaze over now when I see red/white/blue on an eBay page. Hopefully this is happening to others also.

Glad to read you'll be around.
Be sure to keep me informed.
They (the ebay folks that came up with this idea) probably can not believe the lack of participants. They got to be embrassed to have such a promising goal and that come so far from reaching it.

I just noticed - it is no longer on the seller list.
Maybe it's moving around like an infection.

Hi,
I don't see it on my Sellers page.
There is 3 stores acros the top that are for AFA.
I think its a DIRTY shame the way these charities are handling this money.
I was asking the very 1st week when the pleas were out to donate money "where is all this money going and who is getting it?".
The red cross spends our donations on everything BUT the families that are suppose to it then have NERVE to ask for more. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!

I know I'm in the minority here...but although I think the usages for the $ should have been disclosed up front so that folks could be informed prior to donating, I think we have to remember that although this was a huge tragedy, the numbers were relatively small compared to the initial estimates. Our usual emergencies (fire, flood, earthquake, hurricane) leave many families without food, clothing & shelter - all urgent needs, which is not the case here. Not to say that compensation isn't due - but the families could all be made millionaires with money left over. Not that that would be a terrible thing, but - further terrorist attacks have been and are being forecast as I write this...and should more occur, I don't think we can have separate funds - a lot of folks gave their annual charitable donation (and more) to those associated with 9/11. There would be no funds for further scenarios (locally, our charities are already hurting and worried about the holidays). JMHO - although I do agree with most everyone with regard to Megbay strutting and stuffing it down the throats of all of us Mug-bayers!

Well I notice this auction accepts money orders and checks, and isn't cramming Billpoint down everyone's throat.
Also, my Netscape doesn't seem to want to load the lower half of the page -- I had to open it in Netscape Composer. Is it just me, or is the html screwed up in this listing?
