I just checked out yahoo's new shopping design, where you can search in one place for anything in auctions...shopping...classifieds.....and it is so easy.....I think finally ebay has some stiff competition coming...
I think the best deal there for my product is a few in auctions and the free classifieds so that you can sell more from your website....

yahoo said they want to take on ebay,so here it comes??
yahoo always have nice items, now with ebay sales slumping and dealers not listing as much and brick and mortar dealers keeping their better stuff in their shops, this will make ebay more and more like a junk yard

Don't you have to have a credit card ID to bid on Yahoo auctions? At one time I know they had such a requirement. I never thought much about that requirement except it seemed like a good way to keep kids and pranks from being unaccountable. That was until a few days ago and I witness some major reluctance and outrage on the part of posters on AW to supply a credit card ID. I'm wondering how much of an effect that has on Yahoo's auctions. Honestly I never thought credit card IDs was an issue, at least it hasn't been with me. It does seem to be a serious issue with some.

Giving a CC# because you want to use to purchase something is one thing----but AW's reeason for wanting my CC# doesn't fit that scenario

If you plan to purchase via a check or money order on Yahoo you need to supply a credit card, or at least you did. Also on eBay, if you want to register an ID that has a web-based email address to post on the message boards you have to supply a credit card.

In a similar thought, I saw an ad last night that did not accept PayPal because of the fees. The ad was posted with "Sellers Assistant PRO"

when seller states he does not accept paypal-
he is limited to check or cash or money order in the mail.
the burden is on the buyer to buy mo or write check and spends 34 cents on stamp.
if he buys a mo,thats at least 40 cents at our supermarket ,add 34 cents, then you are looking 74 cents plus an envelope.
these days with anthrax scare, why not accept online payment,FAST AND CLEAN!!!!!!

Because that 74¢ adds up mighty quick when you are listing lots of stuff. I'm all for giving the buyer the option of using a CC to pay, but the buyer should pay the fee, not the seller.
