Hi. We have aquired a lot of old LP albums. I know there is another thread about the records which I read with great interest. I need to know where one can buy boxes made for shipping them. I made a trip to the Container Store last night and they didn't have them. I know they are made because my son has received records in them. Does anyone know where to buy them and how much they are. Right now I am cutting down big sheets of cardboard but it is so time consuming. Thanks

This may seem unconventional -- but I use large card board Pizza boxes (Not the glossy paper type) for lps, laser discs, etc. Go to the local pizza shop and cut a deal with the owner. The Local Pizza shops normally band together to buy generic boxes so they can buy them at the 10000 pc price typically .10 to 20 cents a piece. Buying the same box at the box distributor you would pay up to a $1.00 at they typical low qtys we ebay sellers us. Using a little bubble wrap and three pieces of tap and you are set. I have had very good success.

If you're shipping with Priority Mail, there's some Priority boxes given out by the USPS that work. There's a couple Priority boxes that are pretty large and about 3" thick - you can slide an album in at an angle, just remember to pad out the remainder of the box with a filler of some sort. They've worked fine for me. Unfortunately, they aren't available at the USPS's website, and not all of the Post Offices carry them.

pizza boxes put together printed side in work best. they are heavy and leave plenty of room for bubble wrap. i have never had a complaint or broken lp that was shipped in one.
they are also great for shipping plates. for the inner box only of course.

I ship hundereds of records a month 99% ship priority use the large rectangle priority box left flat.
<br />
<br />
DONT USE NO bubble wrap or the like for records it actually weaks the package and make it flexable and actualyl incresses the chance of it being broken.
<br />
<br />
the other way to ship reacord affordablely inside the USA is simply to wrap in brown craft paper with a peice of card board to stiffen been buying selling tradeing and mailing records for 30 years the modern vynil
<br />
is more of less unbreakable if the record is shipped in it jacket.
