I had almost 50 items cancelled!!!!!! I am very frustrated. Everytime they say someting new. Now they are saying I had auctionwatch link, paypal link, etc. etc. Does that mean I am not supposed to use auctionwatch templates or tell people that I accept paypal? HELP!!!!!!! They have no mention of returning my fees. I want to relist but want to make sure of all the rules and of course I have a full time job so do not have time to read their manual of rules. If you can help me out. I sell beautiful ethnic clothing and jewelery. I would liek to relist some tonigt if some one can run by some rules in a real simple way to me.

Thanks
K

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Did they give you a specific reason why they were canceled, because most auctions (mine included) have links to paypal, etc. Hopefully they gave you a very specific reason to be compliant.

Here is what they wrote:
I understand the 1st one and I have deleted that from most of my templates. But auction watch and paypal. some of them I had them for about a year and a half and a couple I think are automatic like auctionwatch.com

I just want to make sure I do not get another vilolation so should I remove all links and not mention paypal in my auctions?

1) "Location www.magicalfashions.com ", which is an inappropriate static website link or reference.

2) This Auction Submitted Using Auction Submit(tm)
Get Your [[[Free Copy]]] Today", which includes both an inappropriate promotion and a duplicate third party links to http://www.auctionsubmit.com/.

3) This Auction Submitted Using [[[Auction Submit(tm)]]]
Get Your [[[Free Copy]]] Today!, which is a duplicate HTML table and content, which includes both an inappropriate promotion and two additional duplicate third party links to http://www.auctionsubmit.com/.

4) Other listings included, "I TAKE PAYPAL MASTER CARD VISA AMEXP DISCOVER MO CASHIERS CHECKS use this link to pay to or receive from anybody by PAYPAL AND [[[EARN $5.00 INSTANTLY]]] https://secure.paypal.com/refer/pal=miraclefinish 40mindspring.com", which is an inappropriate 3rd party promotion.

I'm curious, did you post a message to an eBay Board? That is the rumor I heard, that eBay has a program running that checks the auctions of ids who post to the boards and checks for listing and other violations. If you have violations you get an email from Safe Harbor.

Safe Harbor will have sent you an email with the links violation policy. Read it carefully. Scrutinize your auction template. Remove all links to anything. Plus remove all static links, like www.hereismywebstore.com. Get a friend to look over your template before you list. I don't use AuctionWatch so I don't know what the template looks like. But whatever it looks like before you upload, get a friend to review if for you.

Safe Harbor will be checking your auctions periodically to make sure you are staying in compliance. Be extra careful.

And good luck.

Sorry to hear that happened. I just checked one of your auctions and you have a clickable link to your website. That's a no-no.

Hello thanks guys!

I wanted you to know I understand about the website link which I have removed from most templates. Occassionally it appears on some. But I was upset about these new things they keep bringing up about paypal and auctionwatch . What next? I thought I should not use auctionwatch. But I have paid them $ 200 to use all their tools

It probably is the link to your web site, I see it too. I would revise your current auctions ASAP to avoid having them all cancelled

pakoo, it is all the things in the Safe Harbor letter. You have to remove them all. Each and every one.

Take a breath, read the policies, revise your auctions.

Just say you take credit cards through Paypal. You don't have to have links and such. Paypal users are experienced eBay users. They know what Paypal is and how to get there. If not, you can tell the buyer after the auction has ended how to get to Paypal.

Can you check this link and tell me if everything looks OK

The one thing that might be a problem is the link to your Auctionwatch Gallery, since not everything there is an Ebay purchase. Not sure though, since I do not have an AW storefront.

"Duplicate and promotional link" means you can have either a non-promotional button (88x33 pixels) OR a non-promotional text credit (size 3 font) to third-party services, but not both.

For example, if you use Honesty counters, you can have a small text link in your auction which states, "Counter provided by Honesty.com."

Familiarize yourself with the rules at eBay, before you get yourself suspended. If you have a question about what is allowed, contact SafeHarbor.

It looks ok to me too. Double check on the Gallery icon and the Power Seller icon.

I got a letter from Safe Harbor because my Power Seller logo wasn't in compliance. I thought that was a hoot since Power Sellers were the ones who gave me the stupid thing. The one I was using was too small or something. I just sighed and changed the link, made sure it was at the bottom of my page so it didn't over power everything else. You want the buyers to see the photos and read the text, not focus on a Power Seller logo.

Hi Hotcupoftea:

I could use one right now!

Anyway, are you familiar with auctionwatch and what about that automatic link auctionwatch.com I use this for listing. Also the awstorefront I think is the Ebay storefront. Can you go there and see?

pakoo, it looks fine to me.

However I don't know AuctionWatch. And I don't have stores. So I don't know the nuances of how the icons for the AuctionWatch gallery and the eBay stores fit in.

Take the advice of Twinsoft and email Safe Harbor. Just respond to the email you received from them, ask them to review your auctions. They will tell you yes or no. They will review your auctions anyway so it might be in your favor if they hear from you.

Do you know why they canceled your auctions instead of just giving you a warning? Did you ever get prior warnings about anything from them so that you have a history on file with them? Did you post to an eBay Board?

Ok, your auctions got canceled because you had a prior warning. Now you know.

The positive aspect is that once Safe Harbor clears you on your current auctions you will know that you are ok for awhile and won't have to worry about it.

I got an auction canceled on me a few years ago. It was an odd situation. I am a specialized seller, pretty much within the antique sector. I was at an estate auction and picked up a collection of carved ivory pieces because nobody was bidding on them. It is not my area of expertise. I know something about ivory, but not very much, just enough to know the difference between ivory, bone, walrus, Eskimo, Chinese, etc. I didn't want to disrupt my regular auctions with the ivory so I listed only one piece at a time over a period of months. It would be equivalent to you listing motorcycle helmuts along with your clothing, something you don't want to do. I sold one piece, a 19th century small carved elephant with a man on top, for about $500 to a dealer who resold it to a collector for $2000. After the auction had ended, payment was received, elephant was shipped - Safe Harbor canceled the auction because I had the words elephant and ivory too close together. It is prohibited to sell elephant ivory on eBay, no matter the antiquity of the item. I didn't say elephant ivory though it was elephant ivory. I said it was an elephant carved out of ivory. It was good enough for Safe Harbor: elephant and ivory both in the same sentence.

Wow! Interesting! One does have to be careful. But I do not see why they harrass clients that ake so much money for them. THere are so many others who are doing so many wrong things!

pakoo, it is normal and human to get upset if you get an email from Safe Harbor. But don't take it personally or lose sleep over it. I get an email from Safe Harbor about once every year and a half. It is just part of the process of doing business on eBay. You deal with it and move on. I don't view it as harassment, just Safe Harbor doing what it is supposed to do.

Hopefully the experience will give you added knowledge and insight on how better to conduct your business and to improve your auctions.

The thing is, all it takes is a few months of not paying attention to the Announcement Board regarding changes in policies and your auctions can be in violation again with regards to the new policy changes. Eventually you get caught and the email from Safe Harbor lands in your box.

PAKOOO - make sure you try to remove all links to your website, if they come back and warn you again or at leaset more the 2 times, the 3rd time they will suspend you from ebay for 30 days. That is what happened to me. OH and what ever you do if you get suspened don't open up another account and try to use it they have ways of catching those accounts. Don't listen to the folks here that tell you "OH JUST OPEN UP ANOTHER ACCOUNT" and sell.... That will get you permantly suspened... Read my threat on SUSPENED FROM EBAY.

pakooo, your auction I checked last night still has a link to your website. I haven't checked all your auctions but I do see that both of the mannequin auctions still have the clickable link.

I think the AW storefront logo is okay as I see it on lots of auctions and this is what the FAQ says here at AW:

Q.Is my Storefront compliant with eBay's regulations regarding links including in auction listings?

A. Yes. Your Storefront link goes directly to your homepage, which only features eBay listings. Therefore your Storefront is in complete compliance with eBay's listing regulations.

Just a thought!
When I checked out the links listed below,
1- You appear the be using Auction Submit not AW and the link goes to their promotion page.
2- The Paypal link: Does not go to paying for your auction's it goes to their promotion page.
This may be the problem.

selling on ebay is time consuming, you said you have a full time job and you have 50 listings cancelled.
if you have been away from ebay, you need to revisit its rules-do's and dont's.
there is no such thing that you are too busy and yet you want to make money.
all these links to websites ouutside ebay have been discussed to death on many message boards and the ebay rules have been in place for months

THe thing they are canceling or warning about are multiple links .

Your only allowed a single link for each service your templets must be older and have more the one button banner or link to each of these services.
