"The buyer, mrxx, would like to know the total amount for the item below. To help you calculate the total, the shipping address is included below. Yada, yada, yada ad nauseum...etc."
I've been getting a lot of these lately--have you? What button do innocent buyers press to generate this latest missive being sent?
Do you remember the "good old days", when Ebay trusted buyers and sellers to make ACTUAL contact with one another, using their own sentence structure?
Is this just another way for Ebay to push Billpoint or something (THey DO ask me if I want to send an invoice)?

I think this is from the Checkout buyer section.
I don't get these questions since I list shipping in my description, and allow the buyers to use the Checkout system, even changing my totals if they want insurance or not, priority or not.
Out of dozens of Checkouts so far, I have only had one person make a mistake with the amount.
I have also stopped sending EOA notices and send buyers a Checkout Invoice instead. It is actually easier than my old system.
Of course, Checkout has its many problems, but I decided that the Buyers seem to be adopting it faster than some sellers, and I go where the action is. It does make things much easier on the buyer, especially if they use ebay payments.
Of course, that is the weakest link, that it is designed to make Billpoint the fastest way to wrap up the auction, thereby discouraging payment by Paypal, check/mo etc. So I go to great pains to state these options in my auction description, and in the details of the Checkout form.
Although I am starting to like Checkout, I just HATE the way ebay goes about creating and implementing these things. They are always playing catch up once they are instituted. Poor planning.
