We made a mistake and uploaded some old auction that were on hold and I forgot that some of them had links on them. So they suspended us for that. They are making us loose 20-30,000 this month because of this. Does anyone know of anyway around this? Or to get them to reinstate us???? Any help would be appreciated. If there was somewhere else that was as good as ebay believe me I would just say adios to them..... and I know that is why they can get away with this, it's a shame.

It's too bad this happened to you. Did you get a prior warning or did they just suspend you out of the blue?

you said-some old auctions which could bring in 20-30,000 sales?
may i ask how many old items you upload??
it is hard for ebay to believe someone can upload old auctions bringing in so much revenue by mistake or oversight??
do you have other ids??

Welcome to the club rssahome, I got suspened my self for the same thing, but with my situation, I had somebody reporting me every time I would mess up that person was there to report me. I had the same thing, my webiste on my pictures. What ever you do, do not try to sell under a different user, because they you will really be out of luck. Some folks here will tell you to open up another account and sell, but if you do and ebay finds out they will suspened you permantly. I am guessing that at this time they only suspened you for 30 days as they did me. My mistake was that I listened to some yoyos here on the board and opened another account, they found it and suspened me permenatly.... An I lost alot of money myself. Good luck and just wait it out, you'll see it's worth the wait, I wish I would have had somebody to tell me to wait it out instead of telling me 'ohh, just opened another account".....

you poor guys, gheesh they have hurt so many.
One of my bidders/friend/seller emailed me an ex/friend fellow seller reported her for many years ago when her daughter lived with her she used her credit card to open an account.she had forgotten about it..she has like 4,000 positives..apparently this is a nono..
they suspended her! no warning.just a canned email...so many of her fellow sellers wrote saying how honest she is(super honest) & she phoned ebay. they finally reinstated her..even if you are reinstated please never ever forget this.we should be allowed to link,we pay them for goodness sakes. the site i am at now has a place right in description for the link.
ebay never gets it,we bring as many customers than click away! good luck we all need to rethink our businesses as it is very risky to be just at one site that treats people this way.sorry this happened to you, many other real little sellers that need money bad have been hurt also.

If you sell that much volume, then aren't you a powerseller? If you are a powerseller at that level you can CALL ebay and discuss the issue.

I guess if you follow the rules you won't be suspended. I don't know how anyone could forget something important. Maybe not important to you but to ebay. Ebay has rules and by reading this board they are followed closely. I'll bet you won't forget next time especially when so much money is at stake. I really am sorry about what happened to you and in this time of "recession" that much money involved would be a god send to anyones household. I hope when you get reinstated you can still make that amount.

You pay eBay to list your item. That is the deal. Not to promote your own business web site. As unfair as that may seem, eBay loses money when you draw business off-site.

Find another credit card to register under, and use a relatives address and credit card if possible and start relisting.
When your old account is reinstated, go back to using it.
eBay will get the best of you if you can't outsmart them.

rssahome,
You have a static link to your website for your location in all your auctions and you also had one in your auction text on some of the auctions.
That is against ebay's rules.

As a seller I would not try for a new ID. I would wait for the suspension to be over and start again. I checked your auctions and your product is very identifible and I would not take the chance. Your product is not one that is especially for Christmas so redo your auction notice, take out what is offensive to ebay and relist when your suspension is up. Evidently you can relist on YaHoo

these days you really have to wonder who is selling 20-30,000 on ebay??
there was a seller who posted before claiming she sells on 7 websites and ebay is not the centre of unniverse and she carries 3000 products and looking for resellers.
i looked up her ebay auctions and there are just 20 listings and they were all old junks lying around the house.
may be sellers who deal in electronic goods do that much volume,or antique dealers who are willing to sell for less or selling fake antiques.

I used to do 20,000 a month when I first started but not anymore.
I am fed up with it,its purely a buyers market these days.In fact I am seriously considering putting up my entire business for sale next week and be done with it once and for all.
There are too many idiot sellers out there that start prices at stupidly low prices and totally destroy the market and value of the items offered.
I see this a lot in the antique books and manuscript areas.
In fact I am going to start buying off these sellers and re-sell them at a considerable profit at brick and mortar auctions where people understand the value.
But I seriously doubt anyone these days can do that much business a month and make a profit.
In fact I have a hard time beleiving that ebay will do really well this quarter for its share holders.

If I was making $20,000 to $30,000 a month by using ebay and they warned me about a link in my auctions I would pay heed. Is it really worth losing all this income?
Ebay isn't perfect by any means but it does bring sellers a lot of money. Yet people refuse to go with the rules and then whine when their world comes crashing down.
Then they say ebay is restrictive and they don't like the rules. Sometimes you just can't have it all your way.

especially when the author of this thread said there is no place like ebay when it comes to sales.
the good days are gone,i would be cautious buying antique prints etc on ebay just because they are so cheap, antiques is worst category on ebay.i can understand if they have one or two which they do not know in value ,buy day after day they keep churning out antique this ,antique that??
anyone wants to subscribe to new enron stocks, talk to me!!

It's situations like this, that sellers should have their eggs in more than one basket.
To rely solely on ebay for income is financial suicide.

I too would be suspicious about anyone claiming these sales figures.
I checked out a Power seller that I have seen in news articles several times. He had a FB rating in six figures.
Then I saw what he sold, it was stamps and first day covers. This stuff all sold under $2 each.
When I did the math, that 3 years of FB translated to less than $20,000 in gross revenue over 3 years.
I'm not knocking his success, but this doesn't qualify as a successful business in my mind.
But in any event, you have to be as ruthless as ebay to keep your head above water at ebay.

Many sellers better shape up and put their "eggs" in more than one basket. I have a friend that sells sports cards and I asked him to try yahoo auctions. He did very well last week, and now is in the progress of a major shift in ebay volume. Letting your customers know about the move helps even more. I have completly left ebay and put all the outrageous fees, and rules behind. It is time for sellers to move on to better things.

most sellers i know do not like to disclose how much they sell and how much they make,i would take it with a grain of salt when someone comes to this board and announce how much they can sell in a month.
guess what - i just won the state whining contest with a trip to french riviera,a 10 million dollars sign up bonus with the govt of lapland to be their spokesperson and life time supply of moose steak.

I find it hard to understand myself. 20,000 to 30,000 huh, it appears your buyers must not leave feedback very often? With feedback numbers so low as compaired to your stated losses and a high number of neutral and neg. #s. Hate to seem rough but the rules are clearly defined whether a person agree's or not. Joe

If they are making that kind of money, it wasn't from the auctions that they were posting. It had to come from the off-ebay-business they were getting from their "links" and other information in their auctions and About Me Page...which is WHY eBay has taken steps to stop sellers from harvesting these sales and not paying them a commission..
I wish I had went ahead and launched my web-site a couple of years ago when the "links" were still allowed. It is going to be harder to establish my web-site now....planning on a early 2002 launch.

if you have something that they want and they dont want to wait for auction ends or get outbidded, they will click on me page and end up in your website which is totally kosher to ebay.
all the sites which have good traffic like amzn, yahoo and ebay all want a cut of your business.
