I have a non-paying bidder that I filed an alert on and now they are saying that they sent cash awhile ago. I did not get it and now I am not sure what to do. Do I believe them and send the item? Or do I just say I didn't get it. Never had this one happen before. Pam

What to do? Do not waste your time. If they send cash and it was lost,it is not your problem.
Do not send the item, no pay, no play.
File for your fees and move on.

Question: Did you state that cash an acceptable method of payment in your listing? If so, you do have a problem.
If not, they are SOL. Heck, even the USPS tries to dissuade people from sending cash through the mail.
Bottom line: Winner should abide by your ToS...

I was burnt by that ole scam once, Now I make it clear that Cash in the mail is not acceptable - I tell them I only accept payments which can be tracked or proven like Online payment, Money order or check, Some will still insist on sending cash and try to get you to email them with a yes. Its too late to do much now- just grit your teeth, be professional and tell them no letter has arrived and that you will hold the item pending a payment for x amount of time then you must file for a refund with ebay. The payment may really be lost or delayed. Hard to tell with cash.
Good Luck

Seller is responsible for making sure items gets to the customer, but the customer is responsible for payment getting to the seller - If they sent cash and did not get it, then it is not your responsibility that it got misdirected. They either need to send payment again (hopefully a check or money order) or you file for non paying bidder...

Thats the way it should work in theory - What does ebay do if they get two complaints ( Seller saying buyer never sent payment *** and from Buyer saying seller kept payment and refuses to ship. ) Do they bias toward seller or buyer or do they ask buyer for proof of payment I know they stay neutral in FB. ?

My overseas buyers generally send csah because it is considerably less expensive to do so. Never had a problem. I make it clear no guarantees of delivery also. So far so good.

ahc3 says: "Seller is responsible for making sure items gets to the customer, but the customer is responsible for payment getting to the seller."
If everyone abided by that, at least half the online auction conflicts would disappear.
BTW, right now my AW screen has the most annoying ad I have ever seen. It's flashing bright colors 20 times a second. If AW gives me a headache can I sue them?
