I actually have my ebay page as my home page and since I do ebay full time... I am always checking. But alas, it is like boiling water.
I wish I could put them on and then only check them once a day but it is just too easy to see where they are heading.

Plus, it is a boost when they are doing well.

I also check mine several times a day......don't want to miss the excitement of a new bidder! ~smile~

That was the one and *only* thing that was good about ePier--- you could set it up in your preferences so an email notification was sent whenever you got a bid. Probably not something a full-timer would want, but for part-timers & hobbyists it was a useful option.
But to answer the question, maybe 4 times daily, more if there's a bidding war happening

My eBay page is also my home page. So, every time I open my browser, I have a peek. I'd say no less than 40 times a day, maybe more. I don't even really consider it checking, it's just second nature.

About four times an hour, which computes to 20 times a day. More out of boredom, not compulsion, although sometimes I'll check twice in ten minutes, not that I expect any new bids in that time frame. If anything I'm a compulsive time waster, some people call that slacking. So true. Not that I don't do anything else. I read a book in two days, and a magazine in two hours. I just have excess time, maybe I can sell my excess time on ebay.

If you run straight seven day auctions listed weekly, it's a waste of time to check them. It accomplishes nothing at all, but you might get a lift from seeing the bids/feedback and that's why most people look. Most of the action happens the last day. If you run BIN auctions, it pays to check more often so you can send EOAs if they end early.

I enter auctions into my database when a bid is entered--not before. Or to note some new feedback.

For a bidder, watching makes a bit more sense. I still love watching a win take place in the final moments.

About half of my auctions have a BIN price so I like to stay on top of any of those that close. A rare bidding war ups the looks by me also. Maybe about 10-25 looks a day.

Waaaaaay too often for me. I think it is a disease. I wonder if there is a 12-step program for this?

Well... according to my girlfriend... WAY too often! I'm in front of a computer probably close to 10 hours a day..... I probably check my auctions every 10 minutes or so.... I guess that means I check it about 100 times a day! WOW!!! I need help!!!!!

WAY too often too!! I keep telling myself "just wait, you don't need to check so often", but trying to walk past that computer is impossible!! Especially in the 1/2 hour before the auction closes!!

I check mine (just a second, I'll be right back...) every once in (hold on, I want to see if I got any new bids...)awhile, just out (excuse me, but maybe someone's bidding right now...) of curiosity -- or maybe desperation, I'm not sure!!

I suppose the addiction is much worse on a dialup connection as compared to a cable modem. It's on a few seconds to check on my cable modem. Cable modems are another addiction.

I check from the time I get up (7:00 a.m.) to I go to bed around 2:00 a.m. at least every half hour.

Except for Friday evenings, I spend 2 hours without looking! And Sunday's I check every chance I get but until the kids are in bed that is not often. But the kids usually will check for my and give me a report of the numbers at the bottom of my ebay page.

The rule in the house is the first one up turns one one of the computers so I can have a morning "fix".

At least once an hour when I'm home. As things are bid on(if I'm on top of things) I can get it packaged up for shipping. Then on closing day I can add the invoice and wahla....It's ready and waiting for payment. It's handy because on closing day everything left in the box is re-listed.

lowprofile - i do the same thing!

I actualy got myself web enabled phone so I can check my auctions all the time from my mobile,
between me and my husband we have 3 accounts and mostly BIN's
so I want to stay up to date,

the old Auctiva had a cool system,
each time you had a bid it made little
" kching" noise,
now it just brings all the auctions
with bids to the top of your list,
I miss the old one.....
(also, it gives you a little banner
that runns accross your monitor
telling you how many active auctions have bids)

I check mine twice a day. It's difficult not to keep checking hourly or even more frequently just to see those bids roll in, but I have other things to do, and to be honest, the bids don't really roll in until the last day (if then). The reason I feel justified in checking twice a day is because I enter my listed items into a database when they get their first bid. It only takes a minute or so, but if I wait until the auction ends, there might be a whole bunch of them to enter, maybe hundreds - well, that's wishful thinking, let's just day dozens - and that would be a drag. BTW: Since I set up the database (nothing fancy - I use FileMaker Pro 3) my auction tracking has been MUCH easier. I have taught it to print envelopes, mailing labels, half a dozen different status lists, etc. But I think I'm going to switch to Access because it can communicate better with Excel.

I work a second job online so I use it as my homepage.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in checking my auctions 40-50 times a day but it only takes a few seconds with my cable modem.

And I thought I might need a 12 step meeting. But since I'm not alone I guess it's ok.

Since I buy as much as I sell (or more!), I jump on the computer everytime I walk by. Yes, even if I get up in the night. Now I've started auctions at a new site so I'll have even more "checking up" to do.

If I have BIN, I want to check for sudden payments and ship things as I drive the kids to school in the AM and pick them up PM. As a result, I have a fast shipping reputation.

The bids and feedbacks ARE a lift during the day.
