I feel really bad, I had won an auction for a item weighting no more than 2 pounds. The auction stated that winner would have to pay $20.00 for shipping which I found a little too much, but didn't mind as long as I get the item shipped in a timely manner. I waited 7 days before having to e-mail the seller, he replyed with a generic message asking me to wait 5 days (I had already waited seven!!!) turns out I got my item on day # 10, he shipped it late and using ground, the least expensive method, yet charged $20 ! *&%^$@! I posted neutral feedback, saying item was received as described, but arrived late, However and by mistake, instead of selecting neutral, I selected negative, and so I left negative feedback, I felt really bad and posted a comment under the feedback, stating the intention was for neutral and that by mistake I clicked on negative.
Do you think that was enough? What would be the seller's reaction to see neg? Should I expect to receive neg. feedback from his part?

Let me get this straight. The item was under 2 lbs-The seller charged 20.00 shipping-You paid for item and shipping-The seller didn't answer emails-It took 10 days to get the item. On the other hand, you made a mistake which you immediately corrected to the best of your ability. Forget this guy!!! If he gives you a neg in return explain it and move on. At the least you learned the lesson to be wary of sellers who overly inflate their shipping charges to make more profit.

Don't forget = SHIPPING IS MORE THAN JUST POSTAGE OR CARRIER FEES. It is handling, packaging, etc. Some of these seem high, sure. BUt you should question it BEFORE they get your money. Not whine about it after you agreed to pay it.

I think the buyer expected at $20, this to be shipped faster, possibly by air instead of ground. I don't know what the auction stated, but if I was the buyer and paid $20 and received ground shipping for a TWO POUND ITEM, at BEST I would give a neutral (which is what this person was doing) if the seller already left feedback, and if they did not leave feedback yet I would neg them because I would expect it to be given back as a neg.
The rules are different if you are a buyer and keep the account seperate from your selling account. That is what I do, and it works quite well. Negative feedback or threat of it does not bother me as a buyer. There is no harm.

I think you deserve any retailatory negative. You KNEW what the s/h cost was, you knew the item's weight, you NEVER emailed the seller before bidding on the item about the shipping method. He may have be a s/h gouger but he was very upfront with it. Both of you give eBay a black eye.

i neg by mistake once,
it's listed as:
possitive negative neutral
I thought it was in the logical order of
possitive neutral and neg,
I emailed the sellers and we both agreed
to work with square trade to have it removed.
(it cost $15.00 - tell him if he wants to have it removed you agree to work with him if he pays - and files for the removal,
that way he's out $15.00 - which will you make you feel better about the $20.00 shipping and he wont have a neg...so he'll feel better)

Shouldn't the buyer that left the wrong feedback offer to pay the Square Deal fees since it was her mistake. I'm sure this seller gets his/her share of negative or neutral feedbacks with the hefty s/h fee they charge and is use to it and can at least get the satisfaction of returning the negative feedback.
This all illustrates the important need for all buyers to ask all the questions before they bid.

Like I said before, Paying the 20 bucks wasn't the reason why I left a neutral feedback, because that was stated on the auction, what wasn't stated was the fact that the item will ship in the most cost effective method. And being such a small/lightweight item it bothered that I had to wait 10 days to get it. (and the did the poorest job packaging the item, so I don't see why charge any handling charges) I just received a 13" TV from return buy, I got the item (A T.V. in this case, which is much more delicate) within 2 days of auction's end and with a tracking number, sure the cost was $30.00 but I was more than happy to pay given the level of service and inmediate shipping. After the fact I felt bad by leaving the negative feedback, this was the fist time I neg somebody, But after reading your replies, I really feel he deserved it. And the system does lends itself for mistakes because of the order in which the three choices are listed (Positive, NEGATIVE, Neutral) Thanks for the responses.
