AW made it very clear that the maintenance yesterday was going to be extended. If anyone followed the link they would have read the times that portions would be off line and when they were expected to be back. It was very clear and concise. Everyone should be prepared for the maintenance down times and list accordingly. I just doubled up my listings on friday so I didn't miss a day. I agree it was an inconvenience but with all the prior notice no one should have caught unaware.

capolady - it wasn't a question of being caught "unaware" it was an issue of how long is too long.

If AW says they're going to take 8 hours to do something, I'll tack on an extra hour (or two) for good measure, because it's a reasonable rule of thumb.

But they took more than 9 hours longer than they claimed they needed and that's absurd.

WOW..I can't believe I was "censored"! All I said was "At least we can "b****". I certainly don't think that's "censorable"!

I think aw should use proper terms, and we would go along with them more. If they had reported MAJOR OUTAGE PROBLEMS resulting from a major conversion- I'd give them lots of time and be much more patient. AW and ebay, and many other on-line providers abuse the term 'maintenance' terribly. They weren't 'maintaining', they were DOWN for a major conversion. Ebay does the same thing- they will say 'we are down for maintenance' when often the case is that they are DOWN, not working, suffering a disaster, went down the tubes, or blew higher than a kite. (all terms from the old days of computing.) Actually, by the wildest stretch of my imagination, I can't see how they are UP so much! Stuff happens, but let's call stuff, stuff..., not maintenance. Too bad the folks who work around the clock getting these things up again are heroes only to their staff, never to their users. Get my luids going again, and you get my praise.

Yes, they should have anounced a weekend outage it looks like.

But then, we should have expected this because they keep playing with the buttons.

AW, put a password on that computer so the kids quit playing with it, it's Saturday afternoon already and we want to list an auction or two.

Count me with the complainers...but I have to agree with "rgrem"...I've been really impressed with the amount of "up" time AW consistently has. They're almost never off (at least during the times I'm using them) and their technicians deserve a round of applause. Just one round for now...when they get AW back, let's give them a "Standing O"!
