Hi there,

I wondering what you guys do when you've sold an item and the email address provided to eBay is no good. I just sold an item today and when AW sent the WBN it came back as undeliverable.

How would you handle this situation??? How should I proceed? Should I contact eBay now or wait a couple days to see if this person emails me?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Thanks,
Lori

I try to send it again by clicking on the email address in ebay.
Still don't work I pull the member contact info and wait a day or so.
Still don't work, I use another email system and try one more time.

Some will say to call them but my nickel and dime profit rarely is worth a long distances phone call. So I report tthe email address problem to ebay.

Usually, either they contact you or get NARU on ebay. If I still don't hear the I file the NPA on the 10th day and go on with my ebay life!

I had one also today. My EOA notice came back to me and it said Service unavailable. The person overbid someone else about 3 hours before the auction ended. I hate when they do that. This is the third one this past week. I don't have many bidders but I just hate it when one comes in at the last minute bids and then I can't find them. I'll just wait and file if I don't hear from them.

I had this happen recently. What I did was just forward the e-mail to [email protected] with BAD E-MAIL ADDRESS as the subject line. In a couple of days my bidder contacted me all apologetic because they had forgotten to update their eBay account with their new e-mail address. They said that eBay had told them that I was trying to contact them.

It worked for me.

I'm sorry, I'm bumping this up to the top again. I know this has been addressed a zillion times. Someone suggested once contacting them through the "mail this auction to a friend link" or some other link. I just can't remember which one - I want ebay to know I can't reach her too. She keeps emailing me and wondering why I haven't contacted her yet and each time I reply to the address that I get her email from (which is the same as her ebay email address). I must have emailed her 7 or 8 times and sent her an ebay invoice, but apparently none of my emails have reached her because each time I tell her "email me back so I know you've received this". Do I really have to pull to contact info and make a long distance phone call over a $2.00 video?

Are any of these "bad" addresses ATT by chance? I believe there's been a recent change to AT&T addys and a post on ebay's announcement board. I don't know if other providers were affected or not.

My bad address is a hotmail one. It's weird that none of my emails are coming back to me "undeliverable"...they apparently are just vanishing in cyberspace.

Remember that Ebay's check and their email system has been have ALOT of problems. You might want to try to email them again later. It could be a problem with ebay, not the bidder. Just a thought

I just had a buyer's email bounce back. Two days later the buyer emails me that he hasn't heard from me and asking what the total is. It was from the same email that bounced back, so I hit reply, and it bounced back again. I was ready to contact safeharbor the next day when the buyer apoligized because he just became aware of this problem and it is now fixed. I sent his total and all was fine.

On Yahoo, buyers will post a neutral to notify you to contact them. After one day they may leave a neautral saying, "Please contact me." So, I leave them a neutral that says, "Hello, you have won, total coming soon." I don't recommend contacting users that way, fb isn't for communicating.

ihula: Enable return receipt on your mailer the next time you email your problem bidder. Have it send the return receipt to your incoming mailbox so you can examine it.

I had a very similar experience with a Hotmail user. Read all about it here:

I have never had any luck getting eBay to suspend someone who has a bad email address.

First thing I would do is send an e-mail from your personal e-mail and not an automated one. This will make sure that they is not some sort of blocker on your automated end of auction notice by the bidder.
Give it a day or two as many of those types do not know how to change their e-mail address on ebay and will be in contact with you once they realize that the auction has closed. You must wait 7 days before filing a non-paying bidder alert anyway, so give it that long to see what happens. If nothing then, do as you would with any other non-paying bidder.
Good luck,
bp

ihula,
Try e-mailing from a different e-mail address of yours. I had my e-mail address stolen from one of those spam companies and they send spam with my e-mail address. I have had a handful of people that have blocked my e-mail address because of this. Once that I have determined that is what is going on, I use another of my e-mail addresses and it goes through fine.
The confusing part in your case is you state that they are not coming back like rejected or undeliverable. If that is the case, the bidder could be playing you. I am personally dealing with one of those right now myself. You will know soon after e-mailing from another e-mail address if that is the case or not.
Good luck,
bp
