I have a customer that asked if the package I prepared was actually shipped. It seems the wording on the delivery confirmation has changed. It now says:
The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on February 06, 2002 at 10:12 pm to expect your package for mai
If my postal center doesn't scan the package again, will the message change before it reaches the buyer? I know for a fact that my postal center does not scan the barcodes...
It shows that the temporary database maintained by the USPS Webtools system was uploaded to the master USPS tracking system at 10 PM on the day you created your Endicia label.
You probably won't see another message update on that DC until it is delivered. We are seeing *some* intermediate scans, but the majority just will have one more message when the package is actually delivered.
If you want to show your customer that you gave the package to the USPS on that day, find [i]any[/] USPS mail carrier (NOT a retail clerk at the window). Catch the one coming to your home or business, stop one in a truck, or catch one at the back of your Post Office. Ask them to scan your package with their small belt-mounted scanner. After they scan, a little menu will pop up on their scanner which indicates what kind of transaction this was. Have them chose "pickup". This will take them all of 45 seconds.
That evening you will see a much more specific message saying something like "the package was picked up by a USPS representative at 3:34 PM on 2/7/02".
