Hi,
I have a children's book, The Wooloo and Lita May. Written by Frances Cole Youlin, illustrated by Margaret Temple Braley. Copyright 1942, Cupples & Leon Company.
The book doesn't show up on any of the book search engines. Neither does the author. I did find the illustrator.
Here's a picture.

Hopefully someone will recognize it. Is it rare?
Thanks for the help!
Lucy
Edited because I'm not very good at posting an image.

I read in the WSJ that Dubya quotes extensively from this book in his "speeches"

Hi Bidsbids,
I saved the info for future reference.
Thanks very much!
Lucy
P.S. to tomwiii - Anybody know Dubya's eBay ID? Who knows? He might like another copy. LOL

Hello Bidsbids,
Good page - a few places I didn't know about. Unfortunately, nothing there either.
I was hoping some of the book experts here on AW might recognize it.
I asked a while back on the eBay Book Chat and Book Seller boards and had no response.
Thanks,
Lucy

You're right, there really isn't a lot out there on this book! I did a Google search and only found this one webpage, which at least might shed a little light on the illustrator:
http://www.keeline.com/ND11/
I'd definitely splurge the extra quarter for a gallery image when listing it - the cover illustration has that sort of Johnny Gruelle style to it typical of the kid's books of that era.
I find that if a book is not listed in any of the book sellers search engines, that's usually a good sign. It means the book is genuinely rare and/or the demand is so high the sellers can't keep it in stock. You may have a real sleeper there. Good luck!

Holdenrex,
THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!
Please forgive the shout - I'm just so happy to finally get some info.
I wonder if a link to that page, as well as a mention of the Nancy Drew/Bobbsey Twins would be a good idea when I list the book.
I knew the AW folks would come through.
Gratefully yours,
Lucy

Well, I've been noodling around the web for the last couple of hours.
Found a few more clues to the identity of my mystery writer.
The book is dedicated to Joann Frances McHugh.
There are several books on Alibris by an author named Frances Y. McHugh, romance/mystery novels written in the 60s-70s.
I wonder if Frances Youlin is the same person? Maybe Joann is her daughter.
Hmmm...the plot thickens.

Update...
I listed the book last week and today it got a bid that met reserve!
Needless to say, I'm very pleased.
I wouldn't have known what to put in the listing if I hadn't been pointed in the right direction by the good people here.
Thanks!

Hit the reserve on the first bid with seven days to go! That's always a good sign!

I guess the number I pulled out of the air wasn't too far off, right?
Hopefully my bidder isn't the only person in the whole world who wants the book! LOL!
