Through much consideration and experiments..Ive decided to stop using AW's WBN notice but still want a shortcut in sending WBN emails. I figured I'd share an idea I have.

Most email programs have a way for you to set a signature that is automatically inserted into the email you write. I simply used that feature as my WBN. Its personal and has no links to follow. All you have to add is the Subject (aution title) and total cost. You can preset the greeting and your mailing address and the payments you accept. Mine looks like this:

Hi!

You have won the above auction on ebay. Your total is $_____. I accept Paypal, C2it and money orders.

Thanks for your business and have a great day!

In internet explorer I can preset the ending of an email and I did with my name and address. But how do I put all that other in there?

On your toolbar click TOOLS, then OPTIONS, there is a tab called SIGNATURES. There are two windows the top one you name your message and the bottom one your write it. I usually write it somewhere else and paste it in, it is hard to write there cause the space is too small. Anyway, when you want to put the message in an email you open a email the click INSERT on the toolbar, put the cursor on SIGNATURES, and all your messages will come up by name. I use this for all sorts of repeated messages like your check arrived or the package arrived. Good luck. Tom

Hi there,

Here's a suggestion. You know how you get the EOA of eBay, well you can always Forward that to person who won and that way you don't even have to type in the auction because it's already there!!! Also if you use Outlook you can configure the Signature to go into forwarded emails. Just a thought...

Forwarding the ebay EOA email is an idea but I was going for something that "looked" like it came from me personally. Also..if you use the forwarded EOA and shipping costs are not on the listing because you dont know them yet, you still have to email the winning bidder with that info.

I have 2 WBN's in my signature file now..one is the one I posted above (when I already know the total amount due) and another one that says almost the same thing except I ask for a zip code to calculate shipping. Of course if you supply a total amount due in the first WBN, its a timesaver and if you are sending out 20 WBN's in 1 day, the amount of time saved is gold.

I do not understand why folks don't like the AW automatic end of aucton notice, if properly customized. That is what we pay for, why make more work? By using that, the invoices and mailing label are ready to be printed, with all the info being filled in by the customer. No typo's by me.
If the customer simply can not handle the form (about 10% in my experiece)I fill it in for them. If they give me a hard time about forms, I tell them I wil do it for them, but I prefer the form because it assures their address will be printed correctly on my mailing label.

I used to agree with you but after getting some AW WBN's myself I was less then thrilled. I thought about what alot of sellers said on the boards and was thinking of how to make a WBN personal and simple without writing a new email every time. I'm happy with my discovery and think buyers will be happy too now that they dont have to SUBMIT and click on NEXT 5 times.

Just my opinion on what works for me.

katmommy, I don't get it. Why don't you just write a personal AW EOA-WBN. Afterall, you're already paying for the service. Just delete the link in the default WBN which requires users to fill out a form.

I am a fan of the automatic WBNs. I don't think it makes a difference whether a machine presses the "send" button or a human does it. Try staying awake at 2AM sending WBNs.

Your suggestion is *still* automation. The only way you can get personal with your buyers is if you knock on their door and ask for payment.

You can learn something new here everyday!

I knew there had to be an easier way to send EOA email without having to type each one over and over, but didn't have a clue as to how to do it.

I never even thought about using the sig line!

I just finished setting mine up and it's going to work great...now all I need is someone to bid on one of my auctions so I can try it out!

Thanks so much katmommy, for the idea and trkirkfor the "how to". I appreciate your sharing your pearls of wisdom!

Even if I use the AW WBN without a link..it still looks like a form letter and I am trying to not do that. My sig. file looks like I took the time to write an individual email to my winning bidder and according to many folks on these boards..it makes a differance. Send a WBN to yourself and you'll see that it looks automated. As far as paying for this service..I pay the very standard plan which is a couple bucks a month and thats worth it to me to keep track of when I contacted the winning bidder, when I shipped the item and sending feedback.

Can you do that?...use the post-sale features without lauching the auction through AW?

I know you can track auctions not launched through AW, but that's about all you can do.
