I have received 3 bad feedbacks. All were dumb to my estimation, but 2 of them really stand out.
1. I was neg'd by a new user because I did not notify him of the winning bid or contact him about it. I USE AUCTION WATCH AUTO NOTIFICATION, he gets Automatically notified. Late I found out he could not figure what to do, so he NEG'D me. He did indeed get notification. Ebay would do nothing about it as usual
2. A serial weido left bad feedback the "don't expect email from this seller during the auction". Yea, you got it, he BID ANYWAY!!!!! and nothing wrong with the item or a direct complaint , he was mad because I did not answer his emails during the auction (my about me says I travel and may not be able to answer emails, as well as the ad). How stupid. I later looked at his feedback and noticed he was according to another seller (I had a few emails with the seller), using multiple names and not picking things Up and braging about it that he could leave bad feedback, then just change his name, but we were "stuck with our feedback". An ebay hole if I ever seen one with feedback.
So how many of you had such odd experiences?

1 neg I received 3 years ago when I first started on Ebay -- I gave a neg over a non pay and the person retaliated. What a pain. I still gringe when I see that ugly red 1 there on my feedback page even after 1473 positives.
The worst was the two neutrals I received from one buyer who didn't think I had packaged an item (which was not breakable) correctly. She stated "poorly packaged even though item arrived in perfect condition". It was sent in a bubble mailer and was wrapped inside that so I don't know what she was expecting.
I still have 3 neutrals from when they used to convert positive to neutral if the person was NARU'd. I hate those as well!
I think I am going to get one from a new bidder this week. Auction ended on Tuesday, received letter on Monday - What's the deal -- auction ended 5 days ago and I've not received it yet! She did pay by paypal on Wednesday but I didn't make it to the post office until Saturday due to the flu. I explained that but it didn't matter. When I checked out the feedback she has left about others I found it very strange. She makes statements like: Wonderful Ebayer - received item in 2 days - not what picture showed but very pleased!
Then, if it is received in a week or later she gives them a neutral even if she was happy with the item. She signed up in January and already had 30 feedbacks.

My record -
2857 positives. 2080 unique.
4 neutrals
1 negative
The neg is from someone that wanted to use a credit card on PayPal and I refused. PayPal was not even an option in my listing. Posted neg 2 days after auction closed.
The newest neutral was because the payment option the winner used was too expensive. I offer c2it.com, PayingFast.com, or Money Order. He decided to use PayingFast.com. So I get a neutral! Oh well!
The other 3 neutrals, I can not even remember what they were for.
Personally, I am most proud of my 777 repeat customer feedbacks. I most be doing something right or they would not come back!

Wouldn't it be nice if the person leaving a negative had a grace period in which they could upgrade the FB?
Let's say the seller contacts buyer asking why they left neg. Then they work things out, everyone's happy. Buyer could change the neg.
Maybe buyer just assumes seller will neg him first for complaining, so buyer hits him first? Not right, not fair, but maybe?
I agree that NPB should be blocked from FB.
I thought the idea of filling out a form before leaving a neg sounded good. The seller has to jump through a few hoops to file an NPB - it sounds reasonable for bidder to go through some kind of process to leave a neg.
pros - cons?

I think if they did according to the same NPB method it might reduce frivolous negs. A disgruntled bidder's form might be issued allowing the seller to respond to the bidder's complaint. In the meantime neither the seller nor the bidder could issue feedback until the ten days were up. If the bidder was still unhappy, they could neg if they chose too. Almost all the technology is in place for something like this. Modify the NPB for feedback and they would be good to go.
In turn the seller could not neg unless they have completed a FVF credit.

My very first negative (over 2 years ago) was from a woman who bought a Precious moments picture frame from me. I sent her repeated emails to gain her address information which were ignored.....finally when she replied, she told me she didn't want it because she discovered that she already had this one. There was slight damage to the frame (which was described in the auction) and I think she missed this until later and then changed her mind.......so when I filed the non paying bidder charges......she posted negative on me and says, "Seller refused to ship item".......boy was I steamed! To make matters worse since it was my first negative, I was so upset that when I went in to post her negative for not following thru......I accidently clicked on "positive" out of habit.....so her negative ended up as a positive....even though I emailed ebay and explained and they could clearly see my comments were meant as a negative.....they wouldn't change the "positive" to a "negative"......I think since then I have gotten over the upset of negatives as I have recieved several retalitory negatives from non payers and I alway post negative on them for not following thru......that will never change and I think people see thru the retalitories for what they are.....

Great idea. It would just be another step in the resolution process. Tempers would have time to cool. Misunderstandings could get cleared up.

my only neg..from a non payer..and I'm still her only buy on eBay under that name.
My only neutral? From someone who didn't like that the item was sent in a box from Kmart. I suggested she return it (at her expense)and I would resend it in a different box (and I had some interesting boxes in mind).

Yahoo does have better feedback than ebay. You can change it, so if someone gives you unreasonable feedback, you can get it resolved. I once got negative there by a buyer because they were not happy with the lot, and emailed me. I was on vacation, out of email contact for 36 hours. They didn't give me that long to give me a neg. So, I changed my positive feedback for them into a negative, and told them that I would accept the item back for refund regardless of the feedback situation, but that if they changed their feedback they left me (which claimed that I did not stand behind the product I sell, which was false) I would change theirs back to positive as well. It worked out well, he got his refund, nobody was left with negative feedback. I wish ebay would let us change the feedback after it was left, I think it would not only resolve a lot of negs left that were unwarranted, but when calmer heads prevail, people would change their feedback. I can not see how it possibly helps ebay to have a lot of negatives, I would think they would want to project an atmosphere (or at least one that appeared that way) of positive transactions...

I used to sell lingerie. Back in the old days, when people could leave feedback without being involved in a transaction, some crack pot left me a neg that said "Sells dirty underwear, beware!!".
So, I responded with "He's just mad because I didn't have anything in his size!"

2 of the negs I have are from deadbeat bidders who I neg'd first (I didnt know any better back then!). The 3rd one I have is from someone who said I never sent the item she paid for with a money order. She did send the money order 6 WEEKS after the auction ended and since I couldnt reach her I had relisted by then and sent back the money order. None are my fault and are not even showing in the 6 mo. grid in my feedback profile. If someone wanted to look back a year and see those negs..it would be obvious they were retalitory.

I have one neg, thank goodness. It was for a $5 costume jewelry item. I went into great length to explain what it looked like and if there were any imperfections. I had 3 or 4 pictures. She gave me a neg stating it wasn't what she had pictured in her mind! - obviously not much.

I have one negative and it reads "no reply of any kind" that was left three days after the auction ended. Apparently AOL's anti-spam device deleted both my initial instructions and the reply to the email she sent me.

I have 3 negs, which I guess isn't bad for 1910 unique feedback (2200 or so total). One was "great seller would love to do business with again" with a follow up that said "ooops I meant to leave a positive ..sorry". Another one was because I forgot rewind a used tape. I now have a rewinder next to my computer...go figure. They're pretty well buried by now, so I don't let them bother me anymore.

My first neg. Customer bought a copy of Adobe Photoshop for Mac. A month and a half after I sent it out, he emails me that the CD is defective and he wants a refund. I say fine, return the disc. Six months later he returns the disc and wants his refund.
I took the CD to school and tested it on two different computers. Worked fine on both. I sent the disc back. He negged me.

I bid on an auction that ended last night after I went to bed. When I got up this morning to check on it, I found a +FB for "Wow! Fast payment" for the same auction. Of course I paid him right away, but it was a nice suprise.

Recently, a buyer neg'd me because she thought the shipping was outrageous to mail a tablecloth. The listing said it was a 120" round Damask tablecloth, which which actually weighed 4lbs, not including packing. She neg'd me for charging so much to ship a 1 lb tablecloth. DUH!! it weighed 4 lbs.
She was new and did feedback before she got her package. ewww

Has anyone ever gone back and looked at the feedback you left for others a long time ago? It's interesting to see how much more open and honest we used to be, before all the retaliatory negs began.
eBay used to be such a fun place to buy and sell. It's a shame good things only last for so long.

I bought a dress recently. The description said "no pilling..." When I got it, it was covered with pilling up both arms and across the shoulders.
I looked at her FB, and it was great. So I convinced myself that it was an innocent oversight and left her positive (I DID like the dress).
I bought a little pill shaver (off eBay, of course!!!) and solved the problem. Dress now looks new.
I proceeded to use that little shaver on everything in sight until I was afraid I would burn it up.
I went back on eBay and bought a GIANT pill shaver.
So, as a buyer I ended up making 3 sellers very happy.
The end.
