Had an odd problem lately - visiting some ads in the music cd category on Ebay and the entire page had really odd fonts, not just on the ad part itself but also on all the Ebay sections. After viewing a couple of these ads, ALL the auctions (of anyones, including my own) were appearing in that funky font style, titles, ebay text, and all. After a re-boot of the computer, it went away.
Until today - while viewing some ads, all of a sudden my browsers (Netscape 6.0&IE5) both started displaying what looked like RUSSIAN text on all the pages viewed and on the image ID tags for pictures as they were loading...
I double checked my language settings on Win98 and my browsers and all were english as usual, and tried clearing caches to no avail.
Anyone got any ideas? Also, wouldnt HTML that would change even the ebay text of an auction be a vialation of TOS ??
Any thoughts, experiences, suggestions appreciated - thanks !
Eric

PS - Am running Norton Internet w.NAV & Firewall.

I've been having a similar problem for quite some time now. I'm using Netscape 4.75 and figured it was just a problem with using the older version of the browser...

I haven't been able to gain any insight into the problem but discovered that if I change my font on the browser to Japanese (auto-detect) it seems to help for the most part...

Other than that I don't have any solution for you...

I had many problems with Netscape. I started with Netscape 4.5 then I upgraded to Netscape 6 and oh what a mess. I found Netscape 6 did strange things to my computer so I went to delete it, well it can't be deleted. So I did a quick restore and now I only use I.E. 5.5. I then had problems with my browser so I had to go to the microsoft website and download a different brower and now no problems. I found Netscape had too many advertisements so I quite using it.

Yes, that is what I said. Everytime I went to change areas I would get a stupid pop up box either from a Casino or something else. Mostly casino ads. It happened most of the time. If netscape can't run a smooth business without all that junky stuff then they shouldn't be operating. But I do have an alternative I.E. and it is working quite well. They do have a casino advertisement but it is usually only one per evening.

Back to the issue of fonts...

Since my last post it seems that I have resolved the font problem by turning off dynamic fonts and using a Unicode character set as my default...

Look under Edit -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Fonts
