Hi everyone! I need some advice. I have a winning bidder with (0) feedback. Maybe a newbie? Took a long time to answer emails. Took longer to send payment. Received email that payment was sent. Received another email that bidder has found the item cheaper somewhere else and now wants me to send back the payment when payment arrives.
This is a new one! any ideas or thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time

Walmart is near the mall. They take returns, I don't. Then block sender.

Be nice about it, but I am willing to bet that payment was not sent in this case. Don't reply to that e-mail for about a week and see what happens. If payment comes and is a personal check, then you may want to consider not cashing it. The person may have told the bank to stop payment on that check. If so, you will be charged on the cancelled check also. If it is a certified check or money order, cash it and send the item. He bid. He won. It would be different if the auction was still going on and he was e-mailing telling you to cancel the bid. That can be done. But the auction is now closed and he is obligated to pay.
Good luck in this matter.

HUMMMM Now, what to do. about 2 weeks ago I sent the person one of Ebay's payment reminders. I am wondering if I should just sent the "Non-paying bidder alert" instead of replying to the email requesting the return of the payment. Atleast I would be one step closer in recooping the fees.

Forget this person quick!!! If you receive payment send it back. You can't win in this type of situation. If you fight this person you will wind up with a neg and an enormous headache. Either way, file an NPB-get your fees back-leave the neg-block the bidder and move on.
Some days you just want to beat your head against a wall until the feeling goes away.

Are there any long-term sellers here who are NOT finding that problem bidders are a larger percentage of their customer base than they were a year ago?

Yep...problem bidders: don't want to pay, want to wait to bid on more stuff then never do, people who "accidentally" bid on your item are becomind more and more common. Every time an auction closes I worry that it will be a problem.

Actually I would respond and say sure i'll send back your payment BUT I will be filing a non-paying bidder claim so that I can get the fees paid to Ebay back. Then a quick explaination of the listing and FVF fees and how you will now be entitled to get them back and they may lose their Ebay account in the process.
Then they have a choice save $.50 and bid on someone elses widget and risk losing their account in the process or simply pay what is due to you.

Be careful you aren't 'too' helpful, you may get an email asking you to send the payment to a 3rd party instead of back to them. As the new winning auction seller has agreed to give change on the money order...
