I'd like to ship items to Canada, but have found it takes a while for Canadians to receive their merchandise.

Is there a way to ship a 1-2 lb. item inexpensively and not take up to 3 weeks for it to arrive safely?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I always use Airmail Letter Post. It will take 4-7 days per the USPS site. It is cheaper than Airmail Parcel Post and the post office will let you use it as long as the package is small. According to their site, Max. length 24", Max. length, height, depth combined 36". I have never had any problems with the package getting there or taking a long time. Ground shipping usually takes a long time and often does not save much on the rate.

if it fits in global priority mail envelope,it could be a saving, the weight limit is 4 lbs.

Firstly, I am yet to have a shipment go bad to Canada. I love my Canadian customers!

I use USPS, according to the bidder's wishes. If they want surface, they get it. If they want airmail, that's what they get. Global would be good, too, but I haven't used it yet. I never ship anything abroad without the truth on the custom form, regardless what the buyer requests.

And, never ever use UPS unless you have a real mad on for your buyer!

It's expensive to ship to Canada.

I had a package that cost $7. The Canadian refused to pay it saying he normally pays only $2-4. He negged me in retaliation.

Here's the email I sent him in response: "Hey, I have an idea. I can throw the audio in an envelope for $4, and it'll probably arrive damaged, but you can take the $3 you save from what I charge to put it in a box, and you can buy another off ebay! Oh forget it. lol."

Canadian shippments can be goofy. I send packages to many countries around the world and have had no complaints about the process except Canadian shippments. I do sell to people in Canada, but am very clear about any duty (tax or whatever term you wish) that is put on goods shipped into Canada. I have had many buyers e-mail me back saying I should have listed the price of an item at a much lower rate. I am not willing to lie on a official document. I always put the purchase price on the customs form and make it very clear to all Canadian buyers that is the way it is going to be. Don't take me wrong, I love Canada, just don't like it when I get blamed for their taxation system.

Oops, I forgot to add in my experience, most items that I have sent to Canada, it has not made any difference if it has been sent air mail or surface. It is just usually cheaper to send air mail.

What's the Best Way to Ship To Canada

Sell to a Canadian who has an American friend. Let them figure out how to get it over the border. Works for us. No customs forms, no "I haven't gotten it yet", no muss, no fuss.
