Since Mootropolis.com supports eBay and many other auction sites (even talk of AW) and has a lot of helpful information on the site, I thought I would mention they just did an overhaul. It is looking DARN good.

Kudos to Moo!

PS. No, I don't own or work for the site.

The site is an awful collection of ebay links. I give it a 1 on a 1-10 scale.
No one thinks you own or work for Moodropolist, just that you list there.
Thanx for the waste of time.

jskell:

Did you even look at Mootropolis? What do you mean a collection of ebay links? There aren't a bunch of ebay links there. There is an ebay forum there along with tons of other auction site forums. We talk about Moo all the time in the Other Online Auctions section here of AW.

List there? Mootropolis.com isn't an auction site. It has forums, latest auction news, supports sellers, etc. I seriously doubt you even KNOW what I am talking about.

Then I look at your amount of posts here at AW and realize you only have (3) whole posts and joined AW today. Sheesh.

I agree with jskell. It's a waste of time even going to that site. Many sellers simply use it to promote their own auctions with links to tiny, worthless third tier sites. It gets very boring very fast.

I have talked with quite a few ebay sellers at the Moo.

Now we have tiny little links to third tier sites, and before we had worthless links to ebay. Odd. Such a HUGE variance in opinions.

Moo is cool, and is just getting cooler.

Not "tiny little links" but links to "tiny third tier" sites. What a desperate bunch of sellers.

The 1 on a 1-10 scale is too high. Why would anyone waste their time on the site or the multitude of small, worthless online auction sites that pop up every day like weeds in a lawn?

That is not the ONLY content (which is also inaccurate) of Mootropolis. There are also ebay sellers there and good discussions also. To each his own I guess.

Besides, WHY does AW waste it time having "Other Online Auctions ..." section here at their message boards?

Or even the Yahoo or Amazon areas which pales in comparison to the ebay section.

Then again, why does AW have an ebay section? Ebay has it's own chatboards.

LOL!

I looked at it and there are pop-up ads. It's also very boring (to me anyways). But to each their own I guess as there is room for everyone.

I think you have made your point that you think it is far superior to anything else on the net. But I doubt you will convince that many here, not me anyhow. JMHO

Never said that. Also, there isn't ANY popup ads on Mootropolis.com at all. None. I have been visiting the site since Nov 2001 and it is their policy NOT to have them.

AW on the other hand does the popup ads.

I never said the site was superior to everything else, but a lot of members here are members there, and the new look was a nice enhancement.

Should have known that the CYNICAL AW ebay board would respond as such. Even though Moo has ebay forums, support, and sellers also.

Oh well. Shows why the AW boards have dropped dramatically.

OK my mistake about the pop-ups as they were from the links I clicked on. I don't get pop-ups here at AW.

I find lots of open-minded people here at AW so I won't agree about the cynical aspect though there have been some on all boards.

Not sure, but it's almost like you want everyone here to jump ship.

Nope, AW is a fine place too. If I like a site that is up and coming I certainly want people to know about it. I post to lots of different types of boards.

Though, funny that people can't be open-minded to alternatives and MORE than just one site.

YourDesigns, that is an assumption made by you. I was open-minded enough to take a look and I do go to more sites than AW. I don't like the kiddy city look to the Moo site, I don't like all the cow stuff including the cartoon giraffe and I don't care for moderators. Just the thought of being moderated by someone called cowpaddy makes me smile.

But even though I don't care for it I know that others may love it and I wish everyone good luck with it and I hope they do well.

The moo boards would be ok if the bidville inmates did not run the asylum. Way too much "guff" going on over there.

Kiara:

That giraffe is a cow doing funky looks. Oh well, people prefer sterile environments (that require credit cards) rather than a more fun place, that is OKAY.

Bidsbids:

AW does sound like a playground for simpletons. What a great observation. I have always said you are insightful.

Blairwitch:

Ah, you know you love the Moo, you were possessed by it for quite a few posts. Let's see, 321 posts to be exact. LOL!

You folks just crack me up. I love it!

For someone who claims to have no vested interest in the site mootropolis, you are most assuredly defending it. Dare I say almost defending it and then denying it to a degree vergeing on PATHOLOGICAL!!! And we all know the universal truth that lurks behind an overly defensive person now don't we. Now YOURDESIGNS,there are some things for you to (sic)"Even go look at". I am delighted by how serious some people take themselves.
You are correct, I have only been a member here for a short period. I've been a little busy the last 19 years after college, working very hard in NYC. This is a stress reliever for myself. As it should be for everyone. Lighten up folks. Life is one tough subway ride if you let it be. With the exception of Illness and the untimely Deaths of those we love, we should be able to reach the heights we aspire to. I am trying to simply regain peace of mind.

Mootropolis.com will go nowhere. Other than the "Fraud Assistance Center" there is no unique content.

* Auction Industry News is all links to content outside of mootropolis
* Marketplace is just a bunch of ads for sellers, again outside of mootrpolis
* Links section again, no content, just a bunch of links
* Community Forum has user "content" but this section has no PageRank on Google or has not been indexed.

Its a worthless site anyone with a little CGI/scripting knowledge could put together. I'm sorry to say my web store's home page has better ranking on Google than Mootropolis. If you want people to visit get some real content on there instead of using cheap "content" tricks like forum boards and links. Jhoward, get to work!

The Seller's Spotlight has had the same 5 sellers spotlighted at the Marketplace each time I've been over there. Could be that these are done randomly, but scary to think that Mootropolis has so little content that I see the same sellers each time I go there. This is my 5th time now.

The cow or whatever it is must go. It's annoying.

On the main page, the featured sellers are the same, as are the featured auction sites.

The links are few and uninteresting.

The Fraud Assistance Center has no assistance, which is misleading. It's nothing but links.

The boards look like the most action the site sees.

I'll pass. I have enough to keep up with without reading through a lot of propaganda and nonsense.

We have signs from God because some of us are too stupid to figure things out for ourselves.

Mootropolis reminds me a lot of a neighborhood bar where everyone has their own stool. The bar patrons swear that it is the best bar in the country but they only know that one bar.

Time for ... The Voice of Reason

The Moo is a great little forum site. I had a lot of fun there before the owner went a little bizarre and started using "her" venue for her vendetta against a certain auction venue. At that point, I figured it's wasn't going to be much fun anymore and I left.

I agree 100% with what jskell stated above ... this stuff *is* a great stress reliever.

As for the Bidville forum at the Moo, the solution to the rants (i.e. the inmates) problem is actually quite simple ... problem is they haven't figured it out yet. When they do figure it out, the number of postings in that forum will take a substantial nosedive.

Enjoy ...

RB, I do believe if you were back at the Moo you'd know that the 'vendetta' ended sometime back. Personally I never saw it that way, but I know we all draw our own conclusions. The way I saw it was that Patty was trying to provide a place where those who had a problem could speak about it freely.

Shoot, I like the cow at the Moo, but again, we all come to our own conclusions and everyone has their likes and dislikes. At any rate, I think the Moo is a pretty nice place to be most of the time.

Oh, I remember someone mentioning moderation. Geez, do you remember what this place was like a few months ago? The Moo isn't 'moderated' in the normal sense of the word. Patty and Holy Cow keep an eye on things and make sure things don't get too out of control. Otherwise you're free to say pretty much what you feel like saying.

And as for the content on the site, I personally think we could give it a break! That section was only added a few days ago and is being expanded daily.

But, I wouldn't want to try to sway anyone's opinion here, only wanted to help clear up a few points. If you're all happy here then here is where you should stay.

And no, I don't work for Mootropolis either. I just popped in here this evening to see if I could find some more reading material before I headed off to bed.

Nite All!
