This is turning out to be the ebay from hell week for me!!

Even though I checked my AW auctions twice before I uploaded them, most of them have not had shipping charges added this week.

Four people have paid through Paypal without the shipping charges, one is arguing that my ebay page said free shipping.

One mailed the check without the shipping charges and now has to mail another check.

One is going out of town and asked me to estimate UPS shipping (it was Sunday and UPS was closed). This is for a heavy auto part. After I estimated and offered to cover the rest if I had shorted myself, he said I was asking double what shipping should be and HE expected a refund of any overage (Duh, it states in my auction that there is no handling charges).

I have lurked here many times feeling bad that other sellers had these people and my luck with buyers had been so good. It had to be my turn sometime.

You can always use the UPS or USPS web site.
Even on sunday!
No need to guess.

Whenever I have used the UPS site to get a rate, it gives me an ungodly amount for shipping that is approx. 4 times what it actually is.

The USPS site is fine but I was not shipping it that way so it would not have worked for this item.

Well what would you expect?
UPS rates are ungodly no matter where they come from!

What does your TOS say about shipping? Do you give a shipping amount in your auction description?

at least USPS would have gived you a guide and also you could have pointed the buyer there to VERIFY the amount.

Yes, I do give the shipping in my TOS, unless it is being shipped UPS. I also state that there are no handling charges, and stick as closely to that as possible.

UPS has usually been cheaper than USPS for a heavy object, unless it is shipping cross country.

Ahhh, this week too shall pass. Soon I hope!!!

If your shipping prices are listed in your TOS or auction description then I don't understand how your high bidders thought shipping was free.

Auction terms don't apply to those people, of course. They're SPECIAL! Just like the people that are surprised that they're actually expected to PAY for the item they've won (and within a reasonable time period)!
