I have a whole bunch of records worth between $5.00 - $50.00. How do you guys recommend shipping them cheaply. I am thinking a bubble mailer, but it can bend.

1. you can ship them media mail (something I just learned here)
2. I have shipped them overseas (to france) between two very stiff pieces of cardboard and it arrived safely. (this was the reccomendation of the post office) But here in the US I used the box that my small priority mail boxes supplies came in, it was just the right size, being about the size of a pizza box!

I've used a pizza box. Unused of course. My pizza place sells them to me for $.25 a box. I also bubble wrapped it before it went in the box.
I really recommend using a heavy duty LP mailer. They may cost a bit more, however, they are very strong. LPbox.com sells them and Bagsunlimited.com has them. If you buy in quanity you can reduce your cost.

Order a large pizza with extra cheese. When it arrives flip the pizza over while still hot (and in the box). Eat the pizza and then ship the records in the box. It saves on both buying cardboard and bubble wrap as the cheese provides extra insulation.

Find a box that has sides that are 1-2" longer and wider than the LPs. Slice the box sides with cutter. Place LPs on one side and fold over other sides and secure with packing tape. Bubble wrap prior to covering with cut box. Works like a charm.

I Ship from 100 to 400 records a month I use Priority box the ones large then 12" leave them Flat not folded open I cut the flaps with out the gum on them off.
I pop the LPs in the flat package fold the self gumed flaps over seal them with prority tape and address them add posage to them and ship I have had no trouble in years.
for internaltional shipping I cut two peices of card board put the record bettween then wrap in craft paper usually plain brown tape them in well address them add postage and ship never a problem.
for 78's they are a bit tricky if there is more then one in a package I wrap each in paper Then I sandwich the collection between Styrofoam or foam rubber like you can find at a craft store for stuffing pillows put this in a box custom made to fit what I am packing, then I wrap that thickly in bubble wrap and box it again makeing sure there is no rattleing at all.
just a note I have been buying selling and collecting record over 25 year and I find serious record collector do not object to paying priority rate to have there records shipped as well I have found the less time it takes to ship and the less handleing the less damage claims I have.
as well another tip never use warning stamps or sticker such as fragile or dont not drop, I find to the average post worker these warning mean beat the piss out of this package.
in 25 years I have had three claims for damaged records in shipping ....
