My auction already started and I hadn't realized that I didn't lower the price like I had meant to before it started. How can I lower (edit) the price after the auction starts?

I'm not sure you can, but they have changed a lot of things....we were able to revise only a few things - not price, duration, etc., but I think you can now.
If it can be revised, just go to the auction page, and on the upper part of the page there will be a place that says something like "If item has no bids, seller may revise this auction"; click and follow the instructions from there.
Of course, if it does have a bid (at the higher price), we wouldn't want to revise it, would we?
Hope it helps.

I use SAPro and if the item don't have bids it's as simple as changing the price within the software and clicking on a revise link.
You can also change wording, title names etc in seconds with this software without going to the auction itself.

Every night before I go to bed I revise all my auctions closing the next day that do not have bids. I extend the auction then after I have extended it to the 10 day point I lower the price. You can also make changes to the title (so it comes up in searches better) or you can change the category or even the description, I have a 95% success rate on closing now, when it was around 75% before I started this practice. It just takes another 3 or 4 minutes per auction a day out of your time. But it works great!!

after a bid has been placed the only thing you can do is add a counter or add to your description using the add to my description form.

You can revise most anything in your auction if it has no bids. Go to Seller Services Revise item | Sell similar, click
Revise and go in and change what you want. Nice service.

Simply go to Ebay, and to your auction, click on the revise button , which is under your name, and it will guide you through the process. Unfortuantely they will not refund any fees if the lowering of the price falls into another, cheaper catagory, but if you ever revise one and RAISE the auction price, they will quickly nail you with more fees!!
