Question regarding paypal.
I had an auction close 1 1/2 weeks ago. Never heard/no response from the buyer. Sent an ebay reminder, paypal automated response, personal email, NPB warning, and finally, to make it easy on the guy, I sent a paypal request for payment. I checked my account on paypal and found the request was cancelled. I didn't cancel it. Could the deadbeat have done it?
Also, have you noticed lately that sometimes paypal doesn't email you with a notification of payment/purchase? They always did before and I haven't reset my preferences. Just another paypal glitch?
Your input is appreciated.
Haven't been burned by paypal but it's just a matter of time....

yes the person you send a payment request to has teh option to cancel it. meaning theyre not going to pay.
as for the wbn from paypal, sometimes i dont get them until the day after the auction closed. ive even gotten the ebay wbn days after an auction has closed.

Apparently Paypal is not sending out all of the payment receipts to the sellers. I paid for an auction immediately after it closed via Paypal. Three days later, I got a **very nasty** e-mail from the seller saying that they had not received payment, etc. I just forwarded them a copy of the Paypal receipt that I received and that resolved the matter. As a seller, this incident has made me check my Paypal account everyday to see if payments have been received before I send out a request for payment. As for the seller who was so nasty to me - I will never buy from them again.

I know of two paypal payments received this week where I didn't get notification. I only found out by going directly to my paypal account.

it could be your internet service provider which is not receiving incoming emails.
just because seller sents a paypal invoice, does not mean buyer has to use paypal to pay.
also the buyer may not even be registered with paypal.

dodobird, I'm not trying to bully that guy into using paypal- I'm just trying to make it as easy as possible for this guy to pay so when I neg this deadbeat I can say with a clear conscience that I went the extra mile and he didn't lift a finger.
My ISP delivers plenty of email- mostly junk. I seriously doubt if it is selectively filtering out paypal.
Also a little observation: most negs and fights are over items with piddly value. This item and it's impending neg and FVF are worth a whopping $15
