I had about an hour to kill so I thought I would just prowl through Ebay and see what services other sellers are using and what their ads looked like.
Now, I know there are millions of ads up, and that I only looked at a few hundred, BUT...I did not run across one single ad that used AW or the service I use. The majority apparently just place their ads without a service and use Ipix or else they use Andale. I did find some using Ebays sellers assistant, but thought it strange that not one popped up with a "major" listing service.
AW used to have the majority of the listings for sellers I bought from.
Any thoughts?
Edited to add that I checked through antiques, records, cd's, books, postcards and toys in my search for users.

According to a June 11 AW press release, they have 100,000 online sellers, up 3x over the previous year. Maybe that's not enough to show up easily on ebay. I have no complaints about AW services, I think AW is great, a big time saver, and well worth the approx. $10 a month I pay.

I've ran across a couple of listings created using AuctionWatch. I too agree that Auctionwatch is well worth the money for the convenience and services they offer.

As I said in a previous thread I wouldn't be selling if AW wasn't here. It also cost me $10.00 a month and a $10.00 well spent.

I love AW and use it almost every day. I know I could not list without it. I do not have the time or energy to learn HTML. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ... AW!!

AW = BLAH!
AUCTION TAMER = WOO HOO!
There is nothing AW offers that can't be found cheaper elsewhere.

When I started using the home computer about 11 years ago computer users often used add on programs like Dashboard to make it easier to use the computer. Each new Windows version would make the need for Dashboard and Dashboard-like programs less and less needed. I think eBay is doing the same thing now, making the need for add on programs less and less necessary. JMHO

I don't understand why you didn't find any with Auction Watch being used. I did my own search, and typed auction watch and clicked off in titles and descriptions and found 104,990 auctions using Auction Watch tonight. YOu do have to have a space 'tween Auction and Watch.

dmrick: I did the same thing -- right off the bat when i really wanted to look at how some of these ads were doing these days.
I also came up with nearly 104,000 auctions -- and yes, I did type in Auction Watch and clicked on titles and descriptions and... then... when you actually look at these you will find they have NOTHING to do with Auction Watch, the service! They all have the workds auction and watch in them!!!
Try it!

I agree that Auction Watch is the best thing going for the money. I'm so glad to have this site. It's a real time saver for many people. Easy and cheap! The two best things for listing auctions on ebay.

Hmm, I've listed a bunch of new auctions.
I listed them through AW and I actually spent the time to write a description.
Well, every single one, I kid you not, has received multiple bids. Yeah, I only listed about 10, but I'm impressed. I have no feedback, but I'm getting more for a couple of items than anybody else.
Others seem to spend 10 seconds writing an auction. I spent the time to actually say something.

I would like to take a look, how about posting an id number for one. I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

I agree with taking the needed time for writing proper auction descriptions. I think the more information you give to potential bidders, the more they feel comfortable doing business with you. Plus, when you write complete auction descriptions, you almost eliminate the need to answer email inquiry from bidders.
I use Microsoft Word to process my descriptions. This helps me be sure of correct spelling and eliminates the over use of any one word.
Great Pictures are a must also. I recall once when an ebay seller who held himself out to be an estate sale buyer. He and I were selling the same item from the 1940's. His auctions contained one picture and 23 words which included the terms. I used 154 words and 4 pictures to describe mine. His went for 11.00 plus change, mine went for 52.00. Not bad for an item that I paid two bucks for.

Do a "title" search using the exact phrase
"Full service auction management with free online payment service"
Be sure to check off the descriptions button, and use the pull down menu for exact phrase.
I was able to find over 40,000 auctions using AW.

Yes, dthmj is correct. AW is still very, very popular and it is widely used. A very good service for us who choose to be here.

I just searched "visit my gallery at auctionwatch.com" and there were 245. Does that mean that only 245 auctions running use the storefront? I am sure that AW is still popular and will be around longer than the new ones that are trying to start free. Nothing is free and soon those services will realize it, start charging and will not be able to keep afloat. I don't know what the complaint about AW is but for simplicity it is fine for me.

A previous poster mentioned seeing many auctions from Andale.
Keep in mind that they bought out the Honesty Counter service. These free counters are used by many services and I think they are even available in eBays own SYI page and from within SAPRO.
Many people use these free counters, but do NOT actually use the regular Andale services. Don't give their overpriced service any more credit than they actually deserve.

I agree Andale is way overpriced. That is why I was surprised to see so many. And, yes, they did say this auction brought to you by or something like that. I did see many others with Andale counters but apparently a lot of people do use Andale. I don't know why, I wouldn't.

If you list through eBay and not AW they offer the use of a free counter on the listing form. The counters are very buggy and I often have to hit the refresh button 3 or 4 times to see the hit total. Worse yet, sometimes the counters hang up and slow the loading of the auctions greatly. If the counters are any sign of Andale's expertise in general they must be very, very bad.
