To be honest, up here in Canada, I found lots of puddles, wet grass, cold wind and no good buys, we had 3 inches of rain overnight, so it was a washout. Last weekend I found a set of 14 wedgwood dishes for $5!

To tell you guys the truth I don't go to garage sales anymore. I go to the thrift stores and do very well. Last week I bought 5 mens ties total $6.00 and sold three of them for a total of over $40.00. We have to many ebayer's here that get up at the crack of dawn and I just can't do that anymore. I just have tired bones.

I found the best deals I have ever found:

Leather Backgammon set for $1 eBay around $25-$40

3L Beer Stein $2 on eBay around $50 and up

A few hundred romance novels $.05 each. I can get around $.25 - $.75 each when I put them in a big lot.

I got an old vintage bottle capper and 130 caps for $1 worth I think around $50

1950's paper towel dispenser $.50 on eBay I got no clue, but better than $.50

Sony Financial Calculator for $.25 worth at least $20 - $40

The list go's on and on. It was awesome.

I am in Florida and the garage sales here just keep getting worse every week. I went to over 30 sales and did not find anything I am proud of.

I stopped going to garage sales last year and in my opinion they are a waste of time. People are too attached to their stuff and I just can't get good prices anymore.

I rarely go to a garage sale. I do go to legitimate Estate Sales & do very well as a rule. I am well acquainted with 3 different people that are professionals in this field & they let me know what they have & they know what I am interested in.

I had an interesting experience. At one sale there was a huge box of very OLD 78 rpm records and a small box of 45's (no pic sleeves and mostly late 70's mainstream stuff). I asked the price and was told 25 cents each and so first I asked how much if I took the whole box of 78's and they said $5. I said okay I'll take those. Then I asked how much for the 45's and was told $30! I had to bite my tongue from saying "huh?"! RECORD EXPERTS - AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE? I left the 45's but did buy a bunch of other neat stuff there besides the 78's. Bought three boxes of costume jewelry for $1.50 even though on top it was really cheap and loud earrings. Later in the bottom found a bunch of bakelite and other collectible jewelry.

I am no record expert but the last 78s I had would not bring a $3.00 starting bid at a local auction.

A whole bunch (well over 50) of Care Bears and My Little Pony figures for a quarter each until the lady's adult daughter told her not to sell them. We grabbed as many as we could before they took the box away. My wife heard the daughter remark, "They're just going to sell them." Only listed a few and have already made our money back plus some.

I didn't have any luck over the week-end, but have to share this with you since you asked. Dealer friend of mine attended a flea market LATE Sun morning. Found nothing---as he was leaving, a woman was unloading liquor boxes from her trunk. He peeked into them and found they were full of dealer promo cars. Mostly from the 60's and 70's. He asked her what she wanted for them, and when she told him $1.50 each, he drew his wallet faster that Matt Dillon. Total purchase was 60 cars. Watch eBay!!

"THEY'RE JUST GOING TO SELL THEM"

Well duh!!!

If anyone at a garage sale asks me if I sell on the internet I tell them NO!! I laugh it off and say I can hardly even use my email I'm so computer illiterate. If you say you sell on eBay or any other site these people get crazy. I do not understand why people get so nuts over the fact that you are going to make money on something you bought from them. If they want to make more money they are perfectly capable of doing the legwork-setting up an account and doing all the listing-packing and shipping. If they choose not to it's none of their business what someone does with their purchases.

Bought Disney Bambi music box for 2.00 sold for 40.00

Christmas Around The World Table Top set for 10.00 sold for 95.00

Assorted cookie jars for 5.00-10.00 each - expect to get 25.00 to 40.00 each.

I was at a garage sale about 2 years ago and the woman running it asked everyone standing outside when she opened. Is anyone here a flea market dealer or sell on eBay? Of course most of the 20 or more people there were dealers and all said NO they were not dealers.

I was the only one that said I am a dealer. She asked me to wait a few minutes untill the crowd left and she would show me some things I might be interested in. When everyone left she brought out 2 large boxes of antique items that she told me to look at and she wanted $100.00 for.

I did not have to look past a few items to pay her the $100.00 She figured that it was easier to sell everything to a dealer than to sell it all one at a time. I made over $1,000.00 off those 2 boxes so now when they ask if I am a dealer I say yes.

Well, all the Care Bears and My Little Pony listings have ended. Our $15 investment sold for a total of around $380. Now, if they all pay...
