During the past couple of weeks I have sent several emails via the eBay system to different sellers asking what their shipping costs would be to Canada. In all cases, these are Powersellers whose TOS states "shipping to Canada please inquire before placing a bid".

I have received zero replies from any of them and have subsequently not placed bids on their items.

Does the eBay email system actually work, or is the typical Powerseller too "busy" or too ignorant to respond?

It works but sometimes can be very slow - with the questions arriving to the seller after the auction has closed.

On the other hand, they could just be ignoring you ...

Hope this helps.

I am a powerseller. I charge a flat rate of $11. for overseas postage. However, I had a customer recently from Canada who (not intentionally) sent me regular US postage for her order. I wanted to get it out to her and took it to the post office.

Much to my surprise, postage was LESS to Canada than if I were to mail it to an address across the street from the postoffice.

So, if any of you Canadians get a ridiculous price for postage to Canada from the US, ask "WHY?"

On June 2 I received an "ask question to the seller" that was sent 5/25. Of course the auction was closed.

I have also received them for auctions that were not even mine.

I put my email address in my description but most do not use it.

The ebay email system SUCKS.
