I've been wondering if there is a consensus as to which day of the week and what time of day is considered to be the hottest. I'd love to hear what you all think!

Actually I think it depends on many factors such as what are you selling etc.

Personally, I find the later hours better to close and any day of the week is good for me; not necessarily so for everyone.

You simply need to do your own research and trial run and see what is best for you specifically.

I feel there are too many factors to consider to actually say any particular time or day is the best overall for everyone.

Hope my thoughts help you.

Any night (7:00-9:00 PM Pacific) other than Friday and Saturday works for us. Friday has to be the worst day for bids.

I do have my own opinions, however I've never really had my opinions confirmed before.

I sell mostly internet software that I am the author of. Websites, domain name mining tools, promotional software. Probably impulse items because they can be delivered and the transaction can be completed within minutes of the auction closing.

For the past two years I have settled on having my auctions close on Sunday's late in the evening. My theory is that the masses were putting their weekends behind them and getting back to business. Now I've got enough items that I can have auctions closing every night of the week, but I would skip a night or two if I thought the auctions would do better on other evenings.

I see that squaretrade has a report that shows how many times their logo was displayed on your auctions every day of the week, but it doesn't take into account how many auctions you have going, so you still can't tell views per auction.

Any other opinions are appreciated!

It changes from time to time, and depends on the product.

I sell jewelry, and starting this year I have been keeping a database of my auction sucess rate for various closing times. In the winter, Wednesday at 10AM EST(1PM EST) was by far the best time. I have no idea why. I suspect people shopping at work over lunch back east? But as of a few weeks ago that timeslot was dead. I don't know why, perhpas I fully mined that vien.

Feistyone & All West Coasters...In your case those times might work, but speaking for me and quite a few ebayers here on the east coast your times don't work...If we want to snipe an item, (which lots of ebayers do, like it or not), we won't be doing it at midnight on any night?...Remember one thing when putting your auctions on, pick a time in the evening that's a fairly convenient time (notice I didn't say BEST time because that varies greatly) for everyone on both coasts...I sell ending about 10 PM East Coast time, 7 PM West Coast...You're selling to the whole country, make times reasonable...I know I might get flack on this but I'm speaking for quite a few of us that just won't stay up late for an item because another will come along when we're still awake...And we know about proxies and they're as bad as reserves, we don't do it...And by the way who are these sellers that end auctions at 4 in the morning???..Geesh!!!Take care all...

I think Sundays in the summer are by for the best from 7PM to 10PM but I like to end something every day except Friday and Saturday. They are dead. I have found you get
the most hits the 1st. day and the last day of a given auction. I sell jewelry, mining equipment, and more.

edit for type-o
