Hi all, any info on the free listing day? It seems to happen twice a year and one is usually this time of year within a week or so. Any help appreciated.

1 cent gallary on Wednesday and FLD in Canada on Thursday sure looks like it spells N O T H I N G in the way of a FLD is US to me. Of course, I could be wrong, and would be very happy to find be in this case!

Last year, according to my calendar, it was on Friday, June 29. I have not seen anything definite about it this year. I keep reading about a pennygalleyday on the 26th <Wednesday> this year. It is not posted on the AB as of 2 minutes ago. Please post if you find out.

yuma, Thank you for the post. I knew I missed it last June and stand corrected. I did notice the AB has finally announced pennygalleryday for ebay for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 26. Thank you again. Now, I have to go check on the rules for double categories if I do get to use a free listing day. THANKS!

Just wondering why everybody gets so excited about free listing days. Seems to me that whenever eBay does one all the catagories just get flooded out...to much merchandise up for sale...lower final value prices...slowdown in site preformance... saving the few extra dollars (if you normally run 100 auctions a week, and bump it up to 300 auctions for FLD you save $60-$100 in listing fee's) but typically you end up competing against yourself to some extent to get that many listings. Add to that the 1000's of other listers bumping thier auctions up by 2x or 3x, and there is so much compitition out there that IMHO just makes more work for yourself for lower profit margin per item.

Oh well, I most likely am not seeing the whole picture, all I know is on FLD's I dont list.

It appears there is not going to be a FLD this summer. Only the penny gallery day. Ebay is trying to rid itself of less expensive items and this is one of there ways to do it. Free listing days also allow crap like commons sports cards to be listed ruining the whole idea behind the promotion anyway.

Keep the crap at Bidville.

FLDs on eBay is almost as good as Christmas. To not have to pay the hefty listing fees is a great thing. A seller can bring out items that might not sell and not have to worry about eating a bunch of listing fees and a seller can bring out expensive or inexpensive items they may not gamble on with the listing fees. The buyers get to see a lot of new stuff they ordinarily wouldn't see. It's like the old story of the guy in Times Square trying to give away $5 all day and couldn't find many takers. People will always find reasons not to take a free offer.

The last two FLD's resulted in system breakdowns of one type or another. When you take into account the number of additional sellers listing within the last 6 months would suspect that e-Bay knows it servers and photo hosting system cannot hold up under the volume. What is the use of a FLD if nothing works when you want it to?

Historically the eBay system hasn't been able to handle the added load on its servers on FLDs. But the breakdowns only last one day and if the listing were free it's a small price to pay.

It seems to me that the system problems are with the listing services. I don't use them for free listing days and never have had a problem. It might be something to do with the reprogramming to allow free listing days that don't allow for automated listings.
Just an observation.

My observation with FLDs is as the day wears on the listing servers wear out. The third party services go out quick. If eBay does have a FLD on Thursday it is best to list as much as you can as early as you can. This may be the June that eBay decides to stop offering FLDs. It doesn't look very promising.
