I have 2 auctions running that have "&" in the title. For some reason on both after the & sign are some numbers. This is some sort of Ebay screw-up because auctions weren't like that yesterday.

Are you sure it's eBay?

Way back there, I used to use some symbol frequently (don't remember what... I think it was the "\", something (not quotation marks) that worked fine when listing straight to eBay, but when I started using AW, I discovered everything after the symbol would either drop off completely, or be replaced with numbers and/or other symbols.

I could go into the auction after it got to eBay and correct the title.

But Aw fixed that glitch at some point.

It's definitely an ebay glitch. I just checked my auction listings. The listings that have an "&" have been replaced with "&" - likewise, I have listings with an apostrophe in the title. The apostrophe has been completely replaced by "'" It's showing up that way in both Netscape and IE, so it's not a browser issue. The titles appear fine when I look at the auctions themselves.

Yes! It was an apostrophe! But the problem was at AW, not eBay.

It's not an Auctionwatch problem because I didn't list the auctions thru AW.

This time it's ebay - I don't launch my auctions through AW.

Actually, I checked a bit further - the odd characters only appear when I look at the bookmark listing my auctions only. If my items show up on a search, then they look fine. Also, if I bring up my own listings and select the "view text-only" option, they're fine. It appears to only be happening when looking at a specific seller's auction in picture-viewing mode. I verified this by looking at the listings of a couple other sellers.

Yes! you picked up on a glitch there are threads about this on the tech issues board at Ebay you will see you are not alone. In fact people that have ebay stores & even have & in their store name & any of their store categories are having troubles. EXAMPLE store category: "dolls & minis" could cause trouble has to be changed to "dolls and minis" this could be a reason for slow sales..this tech board is a great resource for help.go to site map at ebay, then discussion boards,on left see tech issues..read for awhile you will learn a lot, some people have not even been able to view home page etc in the last few weeks,,i am sure it has hurt us..good luck

For a long time you could not have any punctuation marks in Yahoo titles. You would get so use to using the punctuation on ebay and it was very easy to not double check the title at Yahoo and there was a bunch of numbers and letters. They now allow them and increase the title characters limit to 50.

Technically, & is the correct HTML code for the & sign.

If you'll notice, the glitch only shows up on your Seller's List. My eBay Selling page and also the eBay Index pages are shown correctly.

Yep. I've got an auction up right now that looked perfect last week.

VHS- Q&A, Nick Nolte Armand Assante

This week it comes up as:

VHS- Q&A, Nick Nolte Armand Assante

Looks stupid, but probably only temporary.

I have the same problem with 2 of my auctions currently running. Unfortunately I can't edit one of them because it ends in less than 12 hours.
