In the early Spring I was suspended for selling an item eBay said was not allowed per their Vero program. As it turns out it was allowed after I contacted the Vero partner but I still had to fill out the reinstatement form and fax it in, I was then allowed to use eBay but that blemish must have stayed on my record because today they suspended me again for selling an item I thought was allowed (many others are selling the exact item and seem to be allowed) and now they said in the email it was an indefinite suspension. How permanent is this? can anyone out there tell me if I have any shot of getting my account reactivated any time soon, any advice would help.

IMHO it seems the videos you sell are of copyrighted broadcasts. It is like selling Gucci knockoffs-illegal. You can only get away with it for so long.

i think indefinte means indefinite, you could be banned for life.ebay does not look kindly on sellers who ignore warnings and temporary suspensions

Thank you for your help so far. No doubt most of the videos I sell are copies. I have always collected sports videos, and a few months back i was looking for one game I did not have i contacted the NBA who told me they did not sell full copies of games, I asked how could I get a copy they said look on eBay. Many many people sell copies games on VHS on eBay. the first suspension that should have never happened wasn't a VHS it was Microsoft Office 2000, which was closed by eBay then after swapping emails with Microsoft i was told so long as the box is sealed which it was it was OK to sell so i relisted it. Then eBay closed the auction and suspended me even thought i emailed ebay the exacted email from Microsoft including the esact way theu told me to list it.
I don't know it seems eBay's customer service needs a major upgrade all i am getting is standard generic replies from them.

Apparently, although most of us don't believe it, the only way eBay will end bootleg video listings is if they are contacted directly by the Copyright Owner.

In your case, the rat would have to be your buddies at the NBA (if you believe the eBay rhetoric).

Good luck ...

The part that gets me is the NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB and NCAA do not sell full game copies, only season hightlight videos. i fell people who do sell copies of games to other fans are only helping promote each sport. The suspension bothers me only because I consider myself a decent person who has never been in any sort of trouble, but the lack of support. All I get is standard genertic emails that could have been sent to anyone. I wish they had phone support, you would think with all the money they make they would.

There are a lot of things in this life that aren't fair. I don't understand eBay when they suspend a seller and let a buyer reregister. Doesn't seem fair. But, when you view a NFL football game, about 5 minutes before the end of the game they tell you any reproduction of this game in any way cannot be resold as it is property of the NFL. It goes something like that, so I guess that is what they mean. I take that phrase to mean you cannot in no way sell that game tape. I don't know if it the same in the other sports as I don't watch them. Only the Packers do I watch.

Buyers can keep giving sellers grief, but sellers so something wrong once and out you go. Good Luck

ebay investors relations will always come to the phone, from there, you smart boy works your way to customer service.
as for why allow buyer re register and not seller register-
seller will give ebay a BAD name like take the money and run.
and some have been known to run with 1/2 million dollars selling pictures of laptop, server, cameras,pc etc.

It appears to me that you did violate copyright laws.

On all broadcasts, there is always a statement read. I am going from memory here, so I may forget a word or two, but the point will be said.

"This broadcast of the _____ is being transmitted for the sole purpose of being broadcast to the viewing public. Any broadcast, rebroadcast or reproduction may not be sold or transmitted without express written permission of the league and teams involved."
This includes sales of recorded tapes you may have from recording TV broadcasts.

I completally understand that the reselling of games is against some copyright laws but many many people are selling games on eBay all i am saying is ebay is not constant with their policy. There are a few people i saw today who have a feedback number in the 100's who all they sell is copies of games. I don't get how eBay enforces their policy.

I don't get how eBay enforces their policy.

In truth, eBay doesn't enforce their policy on the listing and sales of bootlegs on their venue. They leave this up to the VeRO bandits, and will only react if one of those bandits makes a direct complaint about a specific listing.

You can list something like "Asian VCD of Star Wars Episode 2", get your friend to complain about it, and eBay will do nothing about the listing. What they will do, is send your friend a polite email that suggests "you're not George Lucas, how can you possibly know this is illegal, we don't know that it's illegal, nothing will happen, thanks for your email, have a nice day"

So again, your problem is with the NBA, not eBay
