Buyer won one of my auctions and I used AW to send out the congratulations letter. Buyer did not use E-bay check out. I never heard back from buyer. I sent a few E-mails to his E-mail address no reply but no bounce message either. Left bad feedback on him on June 22nd. I received bad feedback from him on the 26th saying he mailed me a check and never heard back from me.
I looked over my records and I do not see a check cashed in the amount of his auction plus shipping. I sent E-mails to him on
5/27/2002 (close of auction)
6/5/2002 (Alerting him I have not heard back)
6/9/2002 (Notifying him I will find a NPB if I don't hear from him by June 11th)
I have had mostly positive feedback as a seller and I hope that people who bid on my auctions will see the reply I left to his feedback as well as the feedback I left him.

IMHO you have already resolved it.
If he sent a check without an email response first, that is his problem. He can call his bank to see if his "check" has cleared and if it has he can send you a copy of it with your signature on it.
The neg he left you will move down the page and be buried by good feedback before you know it. All deadbeats have some feeble excuse.

It's always easy to say, "I sent a check and never received item". It is his attempt to make the seller look bad in his retaliatory neg.
I haven't rec'd a neg (yet) for filing NPB and FVF on buyers whose checks showed up (much) later. But I did send them a friendly e-mail listing the dates I attempted to contact them and the postmark of the envelope the check came in. I nicely reminded them that if they had responded to at least 1 e-mail and let me know they were intending on paying and that a check was in the mail, I would have waited a little longer.
It's funny your buyer never even mentioned why he ignored all your e-mails?hmmmmmmm

Yes that is funny and the buyer never commented on the feedback I left for him originally saying
Send bidder numerous E-mails and a NPB never heard anything

many: you can leave a response to the negative feedback he gave you; state that the guy isn't being truthful because you didn't receive the check and he didn't respond to you.

Your buyer clearly sounds like a typical deadbeat--HOWEVER I just wanna say your use of >>>I used AW to send out the congratulations letter<<<Just leaves me cold!
OH yeah like another post stated--your problem IS RESOLVED!

The most common fake response from a buyer that changed their mind on an auction win or overextended their resources with too many auction buys is "I sent the check a while ago." They figure they can either get away with not buying the item or drag it out for a long time till the seller gives up. This ploy was an occassional happening before but now it is very common. It is a very cowardly way to weasel out of paying for an auction win.

Had the buyer been truthful, he would have emailed you before leaving a negative saying he sent a check and he would have tried to find out what happened to that check. But even after he left the neg he hasn't conacted you. Pretty strange if he was being truthful.
So obviously he is lying. Put that comment in the response to his neg, that the buyer never contacted you to resolve what happened to his check. Other users will know this guy is lying.

Hey, GETKICKSONRTE66...
I'm a little curious about what you don't like about using AW for WBN's.
I've customized my to personalize them a little bit and that's all I use. I don't get 100% response, but probably better than 90%.
Is there an easier, better way?

Make a professional non-emotional response to his negative feedback.
I received no emails or payment from buyer
Don't do the overboard response.
Joe is a lying deadbeat, a worthless person. Avoid him.

Well the response I put is
Response by (edited out my account name) - Never received check from this customer. Sent E-mails as well as NPB no response
and Quickdraw I agree, the buyer made no attempts to contact me at all.
