I wish I had such the luck as this seller has with feedback.

144 Feedback Comments Left by xxxxxxxxxx (140) recieved.

this is a note in there auction, I guess not getting 4 feedbacks from buyers was a huge deal to them.
FEEDBACK: Starting now we are initiating a "YOU FIRST" feedback policy. If you are pleased with your purchase and our service and would like to leave Positive feedback we will do the same in return.

this is mine....2475 Feedback Comments Left by xxxxxxxxx(1425)

not everyone leaves feedback, I have family members that have bought 2-3 items on ebay and they have no clue as to what feedback is, so I told them all about it.

what is your take on this ???

Unfortunately not every bidder bids frequently......Many are not going to go all the way back to ebay, log in find the old auctions and go post feedback....

My mom has a rating of 42.....so out of 2 years of having her account that is not very active bidding.

SHE HAS NOT LEFT A SINGLE FEEDBACK EVER!!!

I'm gonna have to have a chat with her the next time I see her......*rolls eyes*

Some bidders are like that.

Sellers should not hold feedback hostage....although feedback is voluntary who do these sellers think they are to withold it for the mere fact they didn't get feedback first.

As a bidder, part of the price I pay for the items includes a feedback as recognition that I paid promptly. It is a thank you for your purchase. If you are in a store or restaurant and aren't thanked for coming in and paying for stuff you'd be a little miffed.

I don't think bidders OWE sellers feedback. But if a bidder pays very quickly and is orgnized and not needing too much hand holding then I think that seller does OWE the bidder a Thanks you left in the feedback profiles of paying customers.

When I started out, I was just a buyer. I would leave feedback, but soon noticed there sellers who didn't leave any for me. So I developed "you first" attitude with the sellers.

Shortly, I began to sell and have modified my feedback practice for the buyers several times.

Of course, I wanted all the feedback as possible so in hopes to generate feedback from buyers, I would leave feedback as soon as possible.

However, I began to realize that practice could be hazardous and I was no longer hungry for feedback. Currently, I will leave feedback when the buyer does or whenever I feel comfortable in doing so, but realizing I am taking a risk.

I have another id with very low feedback and about two months ago, bought a widget from a seller. I didn't leave feedback for him and he never left one for me.

The reason I didn't leave one for him was because he treated me as if I was a newbie, not knowing that I have been on eBay for over 4 years. I treat all customers regardless of country, feedback number, etc. If a buyer has zero feedback, I will treat them as I would if they had 10,000, jerks or great buyers etc.

One of my pet peeves is the sellers who don't treat zero or low feedback buyers as they would if a person has 10,000 feedbacks.

So, I can take or leave feedbacks. It don't matter to me.

I do notice a difference on how sellers treat me with my different ids.

Once I bought an item for hardly anything. This was before BIN so I got at the very, very low starting bid. I think the seller thought he would get more. After the auction ended, I checked his feedback and discovered he had one or two negs about outrageous s/h
charges.

When it came time for EOA communication, he had sent me a "reasonable" s/h charge but then turned around and suggested we don't finish the transaction. Fine with me, cause I didn't want to push the issue, I was afraid he damage the item and then ship it to me. So I agreed to not finish it.

We left each positive feedbacks.

Sellers can decide when and who-first on feedback issues, but it is important to do it in a buyer-friendly way.

The example of the seller in the original post risks raising concerns from the buyers, in fact the wording seemed a bit peevish to me, a definite turnoff. I suspect sellers who get demanding about who leaves feedback first are the same ones who say things like "If you have ANY negatives or have 0 feedback your bids will be cancelled. Payment must be received within 10 days or a neg will be left. Buyers must contact ME at the end of the auction. Shipping to be determined at end of auction."

And they wonder why their items end up unsold or getting less than similar items.

Although I have been on Ebay for over 4 yrs., it has only been the past year that I have been actively selling. I always try to leave a pos. fdbck for my customers as soon as I know they have received their purchase. I usually email them when I ship it & request that they let me know when it arrives. I don't ask for a fdbck, just acknowledge that they received their purchase. Then I leave them a positive. I almost always get a return.

As a seldom buyer, I post feedback as soon as I receive and examine the item. As a mostly seller, I have adopted the policy that I will post feedback once the buyer indicates that s/he has recieved the item through feedback OR e-mail and, if applicable, resolves any outstanding issues beforehand. I adopted this policy to prevent being held feedback hostage as has happened several times previously.

All feedback is optional. There is nothing to compel you to use the system. If you get pushy with the customer for feedback you might get more than you wanted!

I am well over 1,000 feedback but have had 10 times that many sales.

Chill out folks.
