Well, since ebay didn't have their fld I have decided to go ahead and list a few things. Is anyone having good sales right now or am I wasting my listing fees?

My sales are "so-so" for some items and out-of-sight on others...all depends on the category. I'm biting the bullet and listing...

Sales are still very good Depending on the catagory your selling in I have noticed Radios are very hot right now CB, FRS and ham radios and equipment is very hot sellers right now.
I see some of these Items ending with up words of 20 to 40 bids.
several items I been tracking the past few weeks startout at $2 to $9.99 and some ending at over $300 and more..

Hi Dixielady,
I have been dormant since May. I frequently browse eBay listings, and I notice that in many general categories sales were down ... down low.
Okay, the economy has changed since last May. But, as I browse I see a definite slowdown in listings and bids. I see sellers raising their opening bids and more and more rather questionable sellers listing questionable items.
I must admit that I have quite an addiction to listing ... just love to see those bids come in. So, tonight I just relisted a small amount of items that I didn't sell earlier this year.
I am planning a major life change, which entails parting with a 50 year collection of antiques, jewelry, bric-abrac and so on. I was going to do this via eBay. But I am now having doubts.
eBay just ain't what it used to be!

Dont fret earthmum, ebay always cools off in the summer. The way i see it people are out enjoying the nice weather, going on vacation etc. Things will pick up in september or so.

I have sold on eBay for 4 years and every year the summers get worse. It picks back up in the winter but never as good as the year before. I sell a lot of collectible items and most are down 25% to 50% from 4 years ago. In my opinion the antiques and collectibles market was way to high on prices anyway and they have just finally leveled out.

I haven't listed anything in 2 months - computer woes. I'm biting the bullet and listing maybe 15 items (10-day) to begin July 4th. Yikes. Pray for us all!

I agree with Toolhound. It just never seems to get back to where it was the previous season. Just gotta hunt for better bargains and since so many more people are "eBayers" those better bargains are harder to find.

Does anyone else think there may come a day when it is simply too difficult to find suitable items to sell on eBay for a decent profit for almost every eBay seller? Is that why eBay is rapidly shifting to the fixed price setup?

580 open auctions, over 90% sellthrough.
But what do I know; the cognescenti of AW have decreed that I'm a nutcase, so you'd better not listen to me.

NO your not a nut case sales on ebay are very dependent on what your selling !!!!!
What sells great over the winter will not always work over the summer you have to shift around what you sell season to season.
pretty much the only time anything will always sell is around the christmas holiday anything and everything can be a gift and most are looking for one or more gifts.

Things are different, and slower, in the summer, but there is buying going on. For me, listing about 20 items at any one time, it seems to be mostly BIN sales, not bidding.
I think people have more time to get into the competitive fun of ebay when they are cooped up. Now, while the sun shines (in most of the country), people are enjoying the open air and good weather.
I've listed as usual since I didn't figure ebay would have a FLD this year (last year's was a fluke). And I added some new items since that always seems to keep things going in slower times....
I am thinking ahead now to Labor Day and back to school. The late part of August has some real dog days for sales, so I've got to find something to spice up my auctions...
