With The July 4th holiday comming up would you suggest holding off new auctions until after the holiday to get more buyers or do you think with the holiday there will be more people around to buy?

I'm going to hold off for about a month except for a few odds and ends that can go out for opening bid for all I care...last two rounds have been uncharacteristically slow for a category that is usually always hot...guess all the collectors are on vacation...

I have several 10-day auctions starting July 4th, but they are not for some of my better stuff. I"ll see how these do and then decide about the rest of the summer.

Well I'm going to be selling some picture frames and vhs tapes and am wondering if there is any history of the weekend after July 4th being slower than the weekend after that. I'm going to be doing a 5 day auction launching at 12:00am on Tuesday the 9th which will make it close (If I did the math right) at Mindnight Sunday the 14th

I think you could be making things even slower for yourself if you launch your auctions at midnight. The two best days of a auction are the first day (for those people that only look at the whats new today) and the last day (for those people looking to snipe bids) People that find a one of a kind, have to have, type of item MIGHT stay up until midnight to try and snipe something, but for video tapes and picture frames I doubt most will bother.
I don't know what time zone you are in but if you happen to be Pacific that will make it 3am on the east coast when your auctions close, which would be even worse. IMHO you need to rethink your launch time and get it to a more reasonable 9-10pm Eastern time launch. That will make it only 6-7pm on the Pacific coast, and a more resonable time in the east.

I never consider holidays in my listings. I'll be launching 150+ ten day auctions on the 4th. I list ten day auctions every Thursday.
I feel many people will stay home during this holiday and they will want to shop.

We got high sales over Memorial and other holidays, but mainly via our web sites.
I haven't posted any auctions on eBay in over a week, just too slow. This time of year, I'm just reorganizing, updating, and handling web site sales, organizing for fall/Christmas/winter. Have to also get shipping cost updated for auctions. We do redundant items, so have to update such with new shipping fees.
eBay costs too much to mess with auctions particularly during this specific holiday time where many are trying to run their vacations so as to pick up the extra day off in their vacation plans.

Last week sales were good. This week sales are slow at best. I don't see any reason why things won't pick up again next week.

I was on a hiatus for a while, got busy over the winter, and did really well on some items when I restarted last month.
Now I don't get many views either.
I guess I am optimistic that next week will pick up.
Heres to better days!

I held off putting new auctions until last night. I listed 8 last night & have 5 more going on tonight. Interesting that Toptwo sees thing differently than I do as to time to start auctions. I start all of my auctions a 11:00 PM Pacfic Time. My rational is that on the last day this gives every one all evening to check them out. There are a lot of bidders who work days & only get on ebay in the evening. This way all bidders have all evening to look & or bid. Has worked well for me. I specialize in antiques & collectibles. I only run about 10-15 auctions a week on the average.

My auctions are closing in 38 minutes without a single bid. I always sell with each bulk listing. With all the layoffs coming and rumors of more layoffs I think people are holding off and I in turn will not be posting new auctions this week. Also this holiday everyone is celebrating our true independence after the 9/11 tragedy just to stick it to Ben Ladin. I even braved the heavy traffic to see the fireworks the first time in 12 years. Its vacation for me.....
