I have been asked to help sell a trading card collection...thousands of dollars worth of cards...but don't have a clue where to begin.
Don't think I want to use my usual ID - since we sell glass and china on it - so would probably open another account (*sigh* - 0 feedback).
Have no idea what is standard on eBay with cards, so would appreciate any advice.
Would I need pics? What about shipping? etc, etc?
There was a thread on here the other day regarding payment for a card. The seller didn't collect postage fees - he had the winner send a SASE and a top-loader. Thought it was a neat idea. Is that the usual practice?
Some of you must have some experience with this, so let us hear from you please.

Why not use the same seller ID, unless you're building a brand name.
What do you mean by "standard on ebay?"
Get a card magazine and learn a little abut grading cards. If you're new at it, it would be wise to use pics (front and back)because so many people misunderstand grading, confusing Mint cards with Near Mint cards etc. I find it hard to grade a card based on a pic alone but it will clear you if someone complains. Main things are centering, sharpness of corners and any damage or wear to card.
Shipping, use a bubble envelope, some stiff cardboard and ship First Class. More expensive cards use insurance and tracking. A SASE is fine, but I'd use a little extra tape around the edges so it doesn't get caught up in the machines.

Thanks, Quick!
Having raised 3 sons, and having had a cards and comics section in the shop at one time (which two of the boys tended), I'm somewhat familiar with grading, pricing (Beckett's) etc. But that's a different world from eBay, of course.
If I had more time to spend on eBay doing some research, I would have a better idea how to handle this. Your last paragraph does give me some answers...just thought bubble envelopes would be an expensive route to go ....unless I charge a handling charge?

You will be better selling them at either beckett or bidville. Personally, I hate bidville only because I hate sports cards, but since this is what you are trying to sell, bidville is the place for you.
