This is the third time in the last 2 weeks that a buyer has sent a payment w/o adding shipping charges. My TOS states plainly "Shipping charges will be determined after the auction closes. It will be based on Zip Code & weight." In this case, the auction ended last night. I emailed the buyer this morning to get her Zip Code. She had already sent payment. Said there was nothing about shipping charges in the ad. Ah well, I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go round.

make it the first line in your description,
then ad <p> to start new paragraph, and then type in the item description,
most buyers read probabl;y first 2-3 lines,
and then ad it again onthe bottom,
might help, worth the try

This happens every once in a while. Is it because the person doesn't read or are they trying to get away with not paying for shipping?
If a seller is really busy and does a high volume business they might not notice and send the item anyway...

Make sure you send them your personal WBN, never automated. Then they can see that the mistake was made. It sounds like they paid by PayPal. Reject that payment at PayPal and have them resend the correct amount.

If it's a Paypal payment I refund and ask they send the right amount.
I like the ones that calculate the shipping cost themselves and overpay by three to five dollars stating "This should cover shipping, If not let me know".

How is this going to solve anything? Do you think that their computer can tell if the email is "personal" or "automated", and is therefore prompting them to either send their shipping info or not?????

Got an Email from the buyer this morning. Apologized, said she had bid on 2 auctions & the other included shipping. Got us turned around, is sending shipping charges tomorrow.

I receive several payments each month without s/h or an incorrect amount. The same is true for insurance. Here's what I do.
I email them immediately to inform them of the shortage. Then I forget about it, cause their invoice is now in separate pile with my notes on it saying how and when I notified them.
I also charge $1.50 min. for insurance, and it says that right in my auction (it is optional). It states that if the incorrect amount is sent, I will not insure the package nor refund the money.
Getting back to the missing s/h!!
I will wait 30 days and then send them a warning that I have not received the balance due. At the same time I file a NPB. I generally find that they will never send the money. So I end up having the item paid for and I get to donate it to charity, since it was paid for anyway. On the occasions when it does prompt someone to pay they are normally very apologetic.
Well, that's my story. Like it or not, that's what I do...

The same thing happened a lot to me lately. Buyer sent payment without shipping and handling (I've stated the amount clearly on all my auctions ad) or they send me payment with shipping but not the correct amount stated on the ad. When I told that their payment was short and I want them to pay me the correct amount, then they will start with all the questions, why your shipping is charge is different than others, what type shipping method you are using (I listed on all my auctions that I use UPS Ground) but they still asking me all those stupid questions long after the auction ends. All questions should be asked before they put their bid, right?
The buyers are smart enough to find great products at the lowest price but the are not smart enough to read TOS.

As a shopper / buyer / seller, I read lots of TOS that are very poorly written and have confusing s&h instructions. If you are getting the wrong s&h amounts or none, perhaps it is time to sit down with your TOS and think how you can make it easier for the buyers to understand.(Rather than #*!@ about how dumb they are!) Perhaps there are too many shipping options, or too few, maybe your TOS is long and boring so most buyers don't even read it, Maybe your S&H info is in the wrong place to be easily picked out. The first couple sentences of a TOS should tell the buyer what shipper you use and how much it will cost. BAM, point blank. "I ship by yada you pay yada for s&h & tracking. If you want insurance it cost another yada." If you want to yada on with a bunch of I won'ts & you can'ts that will be more or less ignored that's up to you!
If you are plagued by emails asking to clarify your s&h options that tells me it ain't the buyers who are at fault!
